About ATSER, LP

ATSER, LP is a leading provider of construction engineering and management services, delivering high-quality solutions for transportation, infrastructure, and public works projects throughout Texas. We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer (P.E.) to support major roadway and bridge projects, including work for TxDOT, HCTRA, and other public agencies.

Position Summary

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will provide technical leadership and project management for geotechnical investigations, engineering analyses, design recommendations, and construction/project management support for transportation infrastructure projects. This position requires a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) with a strong background in roadway and bridge geotechnical engineering, client relationship management, and team leadership.

Responsibilities

Lead geotechnical investigations and engineering evaluations for roadway, bridge, and transportation infrastructure projects.
Perform engineering analyses using established company procedures, industry standards, and applicable design methodologies.
Develop geotechnical reports, foundation recommendations, pavement evaluations, and earthwork recommendations.
Provide technical support during both the investigation/design and construction phases of projects.
Coordinate and oversee drilling programs, laboratory testing, field investigations, and construction observations.
Review engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents for accuracy and quality.
Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables.
Develop and maintain strong internal and external client relationships.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on assigned projects.
Lead multidisciplinary technical teams and mentor junior engineers and engineering staff.
Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, laboratories, and specialty vendors to ensure quality project execution.
Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
Ensure compliance with company quality standards, safety policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.). or ability to obtain license within 60 days of employment
10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, with significant experience on roadway and bridge transportation projects or equivalent infrastructure projects.
Experience with geotechnical investigations, engineering analyses, and construction phase services.
Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, earthwork, retaining structures, and pavement subgrade evaluation.
Proven experience managing client relationships and delivering successful projects.
Experience leading technical teams and mentoring engineering staff.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Able to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings
Ability to organize complex projects and manage them using project management concepts such as; scope, schedule, budget, and risk analysis
Intermediate level using MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, )
Able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds and work in a construction environment

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree in Civil Engineering
Experience working on TxDOT and/or Harris County Toll Road Authority (HCTRA) projects.
Familiarity with TxDOT Geotechnical Manual, FHWA guidance, AASHTO design criteria, and applicable ASTM standards.
Experience managing drilling subcontractors, testing laboratories, and specialty consultants.
Existing relationships with transportation agencies and engineering consultants throughout Texas.
Business development and proposal preparation experience.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience applying Load and Resistance Factor
Design (LRFD) principles in the design and analysis of geotechnical systems for transportation infrastructure projects.
