Main Objective of Job

This position will be responsible for a variety of Safety functions including implementation, communication and coordination of all health, environmental and safety programs, assisting in implementing the HSE Management System, prevention of incidents and promoting excellence in HSE performance. Provides auditing and technical expertise to continually improve the HSE Management system at the plant level.

Education/Qualification:

Associate degree Occupational Health/Safety preferred.

At least 3 years working experience within an EHS, preferable in oilfield industry

Bilingual: English & Spanish preferred

Technical Skills:

OSHA & TCEQ knowledge, auditing skills

Duties, Responsibilities & Key tasks:

Support implementation of safety management systems, which include written standards, training requirements, monitoring/auditing elements and corrective action steps. Systems shall exceed compliance and create value added enhancement to plant operations whenever feasible.
Evaluate, audit and complete routine activities required by facility environmental permits, including inspections, data management, report preparation, filing, and submission.
Ensure environmental and safety program requirements are up to date by assisting in scheduling employees to update the following: Hearing Conservation Testing, Respiratory Protection, Heat Stress, and Drug Free Workplace, among others.
Coordinate and participate in safety committee meetings
Perform indoctrination training of new employees, visitors, contractors; plan and coordinate safety and environmental training, as required
Coordinate and conduct routine plant safety audits and physical inspections to determine compliance with safety and environmental laws and OFSi HSE Management System program
Work with EHS Manager to maintain the OFSi Safety Accountability Policy
Assess with oversee risk management program from identifying risks to reduction techniques, and reduce work related risk exposure to a level as low as practical. Conducts (with operations) risk assessments, (in all plant areas) and assists with production of risk minimization safe work procedures, work practices, etc.
Evaluate, specify and audit the proper application of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Maintain and update as needed existing EHS site specific programs under the direction of HSE Manager
Attend professional training classes and periodic business association meetings
Track completion of corrective actions identified through audits or investigations
Maintain appropriate records in accordance with OFSi HSE Management System and Environmental regulations.
Evaluate exposure to hazardous materials, situations, conditions and make recommendations for corrective action.
Completed incident reports and perform incident investigations, determine root cause and prescribe corrective action
Any other duties as assigned

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Authority:

To report any unsafe behaviors to people or the facility to their Safety Manager, Plant Supervisors / Managers and ensure communication to Plant
Authority on HSE grounds to stop operations on the existence of an immediate risk of harm to personnel, environmental pollution or damage to
Authority on Quality grounds to stop operations or delivery of product on the non-conformance of a process or services not meeting requirements

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
