Seeking Head Baker at Fellow Mountain Cafe
Calling all early risers who dream in sourdough starter and cinnamon swirls... We're seeking a talented, passionate Head Baker to lead our baking and bread program at Fellow Mountain Cafe.
You'll be the mastermind behind the pastries and baked goods that keep our guests coming back for more: warm cinnamon rolls, crackly sourdough boules and focaccia, and seasonal treats dreamed up and made from scratch every morning.
Fellow Cafe is a dynamic, from-scratch kitchen serving seasonal cuisine inspired by the bounty of the Hudson Valley and our neighboring farms and purveyors. Beyond our in-house guests, we run an active catering program and love showing up for local events and our own in-house programming. We're a small, close-knit team that takes real pride in what we make and how we serve our guests — and we're looking for someone who wants to help shape that.
Our cafe is open year-round, and this position is offered as a year-round or seasonal role if preferred.
As Head Baker, you'll:
- Lead the bake program — planning, developing, and executing daily offerings including pastries, breads, cinnamon rolls, cookies, and seasonal specials
- Set and uphold the standard for quality and presentation across all baked goods
- Build and manage prep schedules so everything's fresh, beautiful, and ready for opening
- Keep the baking area clean, organized, and compliant with food safety standards
- Partner with the chef and kitchen team to dream up new menu items and seasonal specials
- Own inventory and ordering for the bake program, keeping management in the loop on supply needs
- Mentor and guide any bakers or kitchen staff supporting the program
