Full Job Description

Vigilant Healthcare Solutions is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Pain Medicine Physician to join a collaborative and highly respected medical team. This is a long-term onsite opportunity in a modern, well-equipped clinical environment where patient safety and quality of care are top priorities. Services are provided across two clinic locations in the Huntington, WV and South Charleston, WV area.

The physician will provide comprehensive pain management care in both outpatient and inpatient settings, working within an interprofessional specialty care team that utilizes a biopsychosocial model of pain care to deliver high-quality, function-focused patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive medical and functional evaluations for patients referred for pain care, including history, physical examination, and review of diagnostic studies
Establish accurate pain diagnoses and comorbidities, and develop individualized, integrated treatment plans that emphasize functional restoration and self-management
Provide inpatient chronic pain consultative services for hospitalized patients
Manage medications for chronic pain, including polypharmacy reduction, opioid risk stratification, non-opioid analgesics, and adjuvant medications
Manage opioid therapy and perform medication tapers in compliance with current clinical practice guidelines
Perform interventional pain procedures using fluoroscopy and ultrasound guidance, including epidural steroid injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablations, joint injections, spinal cord stimulator trials, and intrathecal pump management/refills
Order, review, and follow up on diagnostic labs and imaging relevant to the pain care plan
Collaborate closely with nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other members of an interdisciplinary care team
Complete timely, accurate documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with clinical standards

Qualifications

Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pain Medicine, or demonstrable experience in pain management and opioid prescribing
Current, full and unrestricted medical license to practice in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia
Current certification with the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA); certification through the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) or American Board of Pain Medicine (ABPM) also considered
Current BLS and ACLS certification (or equivalency)
Current, unrestricted DEA registration
Willingness and ability to complete facility credentialing and privileging prior to start of work
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills within a multidisciplinary care team

Schedule

Clinic Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (no weekends)
Full-time, on-site position
Reliable, continuity-focused coverage expected; qualified backup coverage arranged for planned or unplanned absences
