Educational and Experience Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in fine arts/education, interior design, or related field is required. Master’s degree in interior design/interior architecture or related field is preferred. Minimum of six years of experience in a related field is required. Experience in a state institution of higher education is desirable. Additional related certification or education is recommended.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Performs advanced complex managerial work providing direction and guidance in strategic operations and planning for the College of Education’s Center Advancing Neuro-Design for Learning Environments.
Primary Responsibilities
Plans, organizes, and directs the day-to-day operations of the College of Education’s Center Advancing Neuro-Design for Learning Environments (CANDLE). Provides administrative leadership for the center in budget planning, personnel management, policy and procedure development and implementation. Directs the analysis, planning, and implementation of strategic initiatives. Oversees and directs all fiscal, personnel, and facility matters of the center. Prepares and submits status reports to the College of Education Dean or designee. Develops implements, improves, and incorporates processes and new ideas. Ensures compliance with applicable state and federal laws, University policy and divisional directives. Serves on committees as requested. Leads the vision, leadership, and direction for all current and future initiatives. Leads, mentors, and develops staff, and external team members to build a culture of service, accountability, continuous improvement with a future-focused lens. Fosters strong partnerships with key stakeholders to create a seamless research and interdisciplinary environment. Serves as a primary resource for the management of the Center’s initiatives. Promotes a customer service culture that prioritizes timely, accurate, and proactive support. Communicates complex regulations and initiative requirements in clear, common language. Manages risk through timely reconciliations, proactive monitoring, and corrective actions when necessary. Establishes policies, procedures, and internal controls that ensure strong financial stewardship of sponsored funds. Identifies opportunities to streamline processes, leverage technology, and reduce administrative burden. Serves as liaison between researchers and administrative units. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications
Expert knowledge of how the design of learning environments impacts learning performance from a cognitive, physiological, psychological, and sociological perspectives. Provides leadership and oversight of all functions in the center. Must exhibit a high level of professionalism and maturity, executive ability, and a keen understanding of protocol. Ability to organize work effectively and conceptualizes and prioritizes objectives. Ability to exercise discretion, excellent reasoning, and independent judgment. Skilled in the development of policies and operational procedures for the overall center. Skilled in directing multiple tasks, setting priorities, and organizing operations. Asset and fiscal resources management skills preferred. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with administration, faculty, staff, and the public. Strong communication skills, both orally and written. Some interaction with university administration to assist with projects and strategic planning. Requires the highest level of judgment for the overall center, in which critical long-term consequences on decision-making can occur. Interprets and applies complex directives, policies, regulations, statues, and procedures, and/or written guidelines for a center or major work group.
