Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper and Payroll Clerk to join our dynamic finance team. This vital role combines meticulous bookkeeping with payroll processing, ensuring accurate financial records and timely employee compensation. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in corporate and non-profit accounting, proficiency with various accounting software, and a passion for maintaining precise financial data. Your energetic approach will contribute to our organization’s smooth financial operations and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, and maintaining the general ledger using software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
Process payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations while managing deductions, benefits, and tax filings.
Perform bank reconciliations regularly to verify account balances align with bank statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Handle accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining detailed records.
Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Conduct account analysis and general ledger reconciliation to ensure data integrity across all financial systems.
Assist with budgeting processes by providing accurate financial data and supporting documentation for management review.
Maintain thorough documentation of all transactions, journal entries, and reconciliations for audit readiness.
Support governmental accounting requirements if applicable, including tax filings and compliance reporting.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or Payroll Clerk with a strong understanding of corporate or non-profit accounting practices.
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms; experience with multiple systems is preferred.
Solid knowledge of GAAP standards, double-entry bookkeeping, account reconciliation techniques, and financial concepts.
Experience with payroll processing including tax experience and compliance requirements.
Familiarity with bank reconciliation procedures, accounts payable/receivable management, and journal entry preparation.
Ability to perform detailed account analysis and balance sheet reconciliation accurately.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills for preparing financial reports and collaborating across teams.
