Gpac is partnered with a growing, family-owned agriculture company seeking a General Manager for its primary location in east central South Dakota. This confidential search is for a hands-on leader who understands production agriculture from multiple angles and can oversee the full operation.

The company specializes in sunflowers and select specialty crops. Operations include purchasing from growers, warehousing, conditioning, mixing, packaging, selling, and transporting finished products. The business is expanding and values practical agricultural experience, strong operational discipline, and a collaborative culture.
The Role
The General Manager will lead day-to-day operations at the main facility and work closely with ownership. This is not a remote or purely administrative role. The ideal candidate has been on the ground in grain and specialty crop businesses and can move comfortably between the office, the plant, and conversations with farmers.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Overall leadership of purchasing/originating, warehousing, conditioning, mixing, packaging, sales support, and transportation

Day-to-day operations, safety, and team performance

Oversight of financial and accounting aspects of the business

Working directly with farmers and maintaining strong grower relationships

Evaluating and applying agricultural equipment and new technology

Clear, consistent communication with a dedicated team of employees

Supporting growth while protecting the company’s family-owned culture and operational standards
Ideal CandidateCandidates should have broad exposure to production agriculture and grain handling. Strong fits typically bring:
- Hands-on experience working with grain and farmers

Experience originating product and running plant/warehouse operations

Comfort with the accounting and financial side of an agribusiness

Knowledge of safety programs and day-to-day operational discipline

Practical understanding of agricultural equipment and emerging technology
