Medical Assistant Needed -

Our busy eye care practice needs an Ophthalmic Technician to help give patients a 5-star experience every time they’re here! This is a full-time position at our office in St. George Utah. We serve patients of all ages, starting at infancy and up! We specialize in dry eye, scleral contact lenses and orthokeratology, so if you enjoy working with interesting and unique clinical cases, this is the place for you!

Responsibilities:

As an Optometric Assistant, you work with each patient prior to them seeing the doctor, so you’ll be the one to soothe their jitters, brighten their mood, and show them that we are there to serve them in every way we can! You’ll be handling a lot of the important work that goes on to set the doctor and the patient up for success. We will train you if there’s anything here you're unfamiliar with!

Your duties will include:

Greeting patients and explaining procedures to reduce anxieties and increase patient cooperation.
Spending time (approximately 10-20 minutes) with each patient before the doctor enters collecting patient history and chief complaint and accurately entering that data into the EHR software.
Performing testing such as retinal photography, corneal topography and external photography, OCT, Icare, and testing peripheral vision with the visual fields analyzer.
Inputting patient information and exam findings into our Crystal EHR software to facilitate accurate record-keeping and scribing for the doctor during the exam if needed.
Measuring the prescription in the patient's glasses prior to their exam with the doctor using automated lensometry.
Instructing patients on contact lens insertion & removal and lens care guidelines.
Maintaining cleanliness of test equipment and exam rooms.
(Secondary Responsibilities) Addressing patient questions and scheduling appointments over the phone as well as responding to email or text requests for information and appointments, verifying insurance, confirming appointments as well as preparing patient charts for future appointments, completing medical records requests, triaging incoming phone calls and general administrative back up.
Must be comfortable with a high degree of multi-tasking and proficient typing skills.

Experience Not Required:

Prior experience as an optometric/ophthalmic technician or assistant is not required.
