Medical Receptionist

About This Job

As a Medical Receptionist, you serve as the welcoming face and first point of contact for our patients, creating a positive and supportive experience from the moment they arrive. You play a critical role in the smooth operation of our clinic, ensuring efficient patient flow and accurate administrative support. This position requires a blend of empathy, precision, and proactive problem-solving to uphold our commitment to exceptional patient care.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Welcomes patients and visitors with a warm, professional demeanor, ensuring a positive first impression.
Manages patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently, collecting necessary forms and information.
Schedules and confirms appointments, coordinating with providers and patients to optimize clinic flow.
Updates and maintains patient records within the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Adheres strictly to HIPAA Compliance guidelines, safeguarding patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Communicates effectively with patients, staff, and external partners, addressing inquiries and providing clear information.
Utilizes Medical Terminology accurately when documenting patient interactions and communicating with clinical staff.
Performs Insurance Verification, confirming patient eligibility and benefits prior to services.
Executes Data Entry tasks with precision, entering patient demographics, insurance details, and other vital information.
Processes Payment Processing for co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances, handling transactions securely.
Organizes the front desk area, managing multiple tasks and prioritizing responsibilities to maintain an efficient workspace.
Resolves patient concerns and questions with patience and professionalism, escalating issues as needed.

Required Qualifications

Education

Possesses a high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

Demonstrates at least one year of experience in a customer service role, preferably within a medical office setting.

Knowledge/Skills

Delivers exceptional Customer Service, focusing on patient satisfaction.
Excels at Appointment Scheduling, managing complex calendars and patient needs.
Navigates and utilizes Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems effectively.
Understands and upholds HIPAA Compliance regulations.
Exhibits strong Communication Skills, both verbal and written.
Applies foundational Medical Terminology in daily tasks.
Performs accurate Insurance Verification processes.
Ensures precision in Data Entry tasks.
Handles Payment Processing with integrity and accuracy.
Displays excellent Organizational Skills, managing time and resources efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

Holds a certification in Medical Office Administration or a related field.
Possesses experience with [Specific EHR System, e.g., Epic, Cerner] software.
Speaks a second language, enhancing communication with diverse patient populations.

Physical Requirements/Work Conditions

Performs work primarily in a sedentary position, utilizing a computer and telephone for extended periods.
