Pay Rate: Starting $37.3977-$45.7018 per hour, plus benefits

The Town of Yarmouth is searching for an Assistant Town Clerk to join their Finance team!

Working under the general direction of the Town Clerk, the Assistant Town Clerk ensures that Town Clerk’s Office Policies, Procedures, and best practices are carried out during the day to day operation and provision of services; performs similar or related work as required.

The Assistant Town Clerk performs highly responsible, skilled, administrative, and supervisory work in all areas of responsibility for the Town Clerk’s Office. The Assistant Town Clerk must be capable of performing all the duties of the Town Clerk when the Town Clerk is unavailable, and acts as the Town Clerk in the Town Clerk’s absence. This requires knowledge of best practices and the execution of sound judgment as errors or omissions will have legal ramifications and will be costly to the Town. In managing the customer service operations of the office, the Assistant Town Clerk is responsible for ensuring that all staff follow best practices when performing day to day functions of the Town Clerk Division to ensure consistent performance across the division; Primary areas of focus include but are not limited to Election Administration including the onboarding, training, and supervision of 90 election workers; Vital Records; Public Records Retention, and the certification of various town records and documents. The Assistant Town Clerk assists in developing the division budget, processing contracts, establishing purchase orders and submitting accounts payable and payroll information for the Division, and all other related work, as required.

RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent of education and/or related, relevant experience in a municipal Town Clerk’s Office, and experience with election administration and vital records.

Experience:
Three years clerical and customer service experience required; accounting, supervisory and municipal experience preferred, particularly in a Town Clerk’s Office and/or experience with election administration; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Qualifications:
Incumbent must obtain certification as a Notary Public; Certified Municipal Clerk and/or Certified Massachusetts Municipal Clerk status is preferred.
