Job Summary

Construction Estimator – Wet Utilities / Grading

Full-Time | Hourly | Overtime Available

We are looking to add two experienced Construction Estimators to our team:

Wet Utilities / Pipe Estimator
Grading / Sitework Estimator

These are dedicated estimating positions, not Project Manager roles. We are looking for people who understand how work is actually performed in the field and can translate plans, quantities, production requirements, and field conditions into accurate, competitive estimates.

If you have worked in underground utilities, grading, excavation, or heavy civil construction and understand the field side of the business, we want to talk to you.

What You'll Do

Review plans, specifications, drawings, and bid documents
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs
Prepare estimates for wet utility, pipe, grading, excavation, and/or sitework projects
Calculate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and production costs
Identify potential scope gaps, risks, and constructability issues
Review field conditions and understand how they impact pricing and production
Work with vendors and subcontractors to obtain current pricing
Prepare complete and accurate bid packages
Maintain estimating documentation and historical cost information
Coordinate with management regarding bid strategy, scope, and pricing
Meet bid deadlines in a fast-moving construction environment

What We're Looking For

Field experience matters. We strongly prefer someone who has actually worked around underground utilities, pipe installation, grading, excavation, or heavy civil construction and understands how these projects come together in the field.

Ideal candidates will have:

Experience estimating wet utilities/underground pipe, grading, sitework, excavation, or heavy civil construction
Strong ability to read and interpret civil plans and specifications
Practical understanding of construction means, methods, equipment, and production
Experience performing construction takeoffs
Strong math, organization, and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
Attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership over your work
Ability to communicate effectively with management, vendors, subcontractors, and field personnel

We currently use AgTek for takeoffs.

Previous AgTek experience is helpful but not required. If you are proficient with another construction takeoff, estimating, CAD, or modeling platform and understand the work, we are willing to train the right person on our system.

Advanced candidates with experience in CAD, earthwork modeling, takeoffs, and complete estimate development are especially encouraged to apply.

This is a full-time, hourly position.

Typical workloads are approximately 40–50 hours per week, depending on bidding volume and deadlines. Overtime may be available and is expected during busier periods.

Competitive hourly compensation based on experience and technical ability, plus overtime.

Compensation will reflect your level of experience in areas such as:

Wet utility or grading estimating
Field construction experience
AgTek or comparable takeoff software
CAD/model building
Independent estimate development
Heavy civil construction knowledge
