Our Need: 25:2 Solutions is seeking an innovative and experienced Molecular Laboratory Director to lead the scientific, technical, and operational management of the Sinteni™ Molecular Laboratory. This individual will oversee the development, execution, and continuous improvement of molecular laboratory services that support our high-throughput genotyping, AI-driven analytics platform, marker discovery, and plant breeding solutions. The Molecular Laboratory Director will ensure the laboratory consistently delivers accurate, timely, and scientifically rigorous results while advancing new molecular technologies that strengthen Sinteni's position as a leader in agricultural genomics. Working closely with sales, breeding, bioinformatics, and research teams, this position will translate customer needs into scalable laboratory workflows and deliver high-quality genomic data that supports plant breeding, trait discovery, and commercial product development. The ideal candidate combines strong scientific expertise with proven leadership experience and a passion for innovation, quality, and customer success. This position is located in Pocatello, Idaho and requires 100% in-office presence.
Responsibilities:
· Provide strategic leadership for the Sinteni™ Molecular Laboratory, ensuring scientific excellence, operational efficiency, and continuous innovation.
· Direct all laboratory operations, including workflow planning, staffing, equipment, project prioritization, and resource management.
· Oversee high-throughput molecular workflows including DNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, SNP array genotyping, sequencing, and molecular marker development.
· Work closely with the ML engineering lead to develop AI-based genomic prediction pipelines for trait imputation and allele optimization.
· Develop, validate, and continuously improve laboratory assays, workflows, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and quality systems to ensure accurate, reproducible, and timely results.
· Ensure complete traceability and integrity of laboratory samples, molecular data, documentation, and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
· Collaborate with breeding, research, bioinformatics, and commercial teams to develop new molecular tools, expand laboratory capabilities, and support customer projects.
· Partner with the Sales team to provide technical expertise, align laboratory deliverables with customer expectations, and support scientific discussions with clients and research partners.
· Evaluate and implement emerging molecular technologies that strengthen Sinteni's competitive position and expand its service offerings.
· Recruit, mentor, and develop laboratory personnel while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, scientific excellence, and continuous improvement.
· Develop and manage laboratory budgets, equipment, reagent inventories, and vendor relationships to maximize operational efficiency.
· Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies while maintaining audit readiness.
· Represent Sinteni™ at scientific conferences, industry events, and collaborative research initiatives while staying current on advances in molecular biology, genomics, and agricultural biotechnology.
Required Skills:
- Strong expertise in molecular biology, plant genetics, genomics, biotechnology, or agricultural molecular sciences.
- Extensive knowledge of high-throughput genotyping platforms, SNP arrays, molecular breeding workflows, and genomic technologies.
- Understanding of AI-enabled genomic analysis and bioinformatics workflows.
- Demonstrated experience developing, optimizing, and managing molecular laboratory operations.
- Strong leadership and personnel management skills with the ability to build and develop high-performing scientific teams.
- Ability to translate complex scientific concepts into practical solutions for customers, breeding programs, and research partners.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with scientific, technical, and commercial audiences.
- Experience with laboratory quality systems, scientific documentation, and data integrity.
- Proficiency with laboratory information management systems (LIMS), scientific software, and Microsoft Office applications.

Education and Experience:
· Ph.D. or master’s degree in molecular biology, plant genetics, genomics, biotechnology, plant breeding, or a closely related scientific discipline.
· Minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience in molecular biology, genomics, or agricultural biotechnology, preferred.
· Minimum of five years of laboratory leadership or management experience.
· Demonstrated experience with molecular marker technologies, SNP genotyping, PCR, sequencing, genomic data generation, and laboratory operations.
· Experience developing laboratory SOPs, quality management systems, and operational workflows.
· Experience supervising scientific and technical personnel.
· Experience with high-density SNP array technologies and genomic service platforms.
· Experience working closely with bioinformatics teams and genomic data analysis.
· Experience implementing laboratory automation and high-throughput molecular workflows.
· Experience supporting customer-facing scientific projects within the seed, breeding, or agricultural biotechnology industries.
Base Salary and Benefits:
1. Base salary range = $115,000 to $130,000
2. Incentive pay based on individual and group performance.
3. We cover 100% of employee health insurance. Family coverage is also available, though the company’s premium contribution may depend on whether the dependents have access to other insurance options.
4. We cover 50% of dental insurance premiums for individual and family.
5. 401(k) matching up to 3.5% after a year with the company.
