Do you have a goal of providing services to Idaho’s children and families in the area of child welfare? Do you have personal or professional experience within or in support of programs serving youth and families and/or the child welfare system? The Department of Health and Welfare is hiring a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist (PSR) Family Services Worker (unlicensed PSR), in our Boise Office on our safety assessment team. Safety Assessors complete a comprehensive safety assessment after the agency receives a referral regarding possible child abuse or neglect. They protect vulnerable children and provide support to families. They ensure every child has the safety and stability to grow to their full potential creating a healthier community.
IMPORTANT: Incumbents will be required to participate in the Child Welfare Academy in order to learn Idaho child welfare practices and standards and complete Child Welfare Academy assignments. During the probationary period, incumbents carry a reduced child welfare caseload under the guidance of child welfare supervisors or designated experienced child welfare social workers to gain knowledge and expertise necessary to provide professional child welfare services to children and families who are subjects of child abuse or neglect. *Some travel will be required.
The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
- Conduct routine-in person visits with youth placed in congregate care settings.
- Build and maintain supportive relationships with youth, and regional case managers.
- Complete comprehensive case documentation.
- Participate in Treatment team meetings.
- Monitor treatment progress and identify barriers.
- Communicate observations, safety concerns and recommendations.
- Assist with discharge planning.
- Monitor Facility compliance with treatment recommendations.
- Coordinate travel and complete travel documentation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. - Good knowledge of human services principles and practices including behavioral management methods, social and family systems, cognitive behavioral education and case management methods. Typically gained by a certification as a psychosocial rehabilitation specialist in accordance with USPRA requirements OR bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, behavioral science, special education, psychosocial rehabilitation, healthcare, criminal justice or related field from a nationally accredited university or college OR 2-4 upper division courses as stated above AND 2-4 years’ work experience OR experience that represents the knowledge level above.
- Computer literacy for data entry, electronic mail, composing reports and letters, and storing and retrieving documents.
Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.
- Experience working with youth involved child welfare, foster care, juvenile justice, or behavioral health systems. Typically gained by 1-year previous work history.
- Experience providing case management or care coordination for children youth, and families with complex needs. Typically gained by 1-year previous work history.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Typically gained by 1-year previous work history.
- Strong organizational, communication, and conflict resolution skills with the ability to build effective working relationships. Typically gained by 1-year previous work history.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities, frequent travel, and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Typically gained by 1-year previous work history.
