KMVT, The E.W. Scripps Company CBS affiliate in Twin Falls, Idaho, is seeking a Senior Reporter who is passionate about investigative journalism and meaningful storytelling. This role is perfect for a seasoned journalist ready to lead by example, mentor others, and deliver impactful stories that resonate across multiple platforms.
As our Senior Reporter, you'll serve as a subject matter expert in investigative and long-form journalism while building authentic connections with our community. You'll be at the forefront of breaking news, diving deep into stories that matter, and inspiring others with your commitment to the highest journalistic standards.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Develop a network of sources throughout the community to leverage local experts.
Research stories by investigating public records, personal sources, and other contacts to determine the most effective approach for a story.
Use visual journalism such as graphics, photography, and videography as well as digitally distinct content.
Operate camera with still and video capabilities.
Serve as a lead reporter for in-depth breaking news and stay abreast of local developments.
Report live on location from various news events.
Fill in as morning anchor, as needed.
Inspire community belonging with diversity of coverage and perspectives.
Maintain current journalism capabilities to deliver high-quality reporting.
Collaborate and share content, design elements, systems, workflows, and best practices.
Ensure objectivity and fairness in coverage, sensitivity to community expectations and balanced content.
Engage with newsroom editorial and content planning to ensure effective planning for multimedia platforms that aligns to strategy and deadlines.
Participate in community events and actively engage with the community.
May serve as back-up for editorial coverage.
Periodically required to drive personal or company vehicle to cover various assignments.
Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
Generally, 5+ years of experience in news reporting including in-depth long form reporting required
Experience in community, digital and solutions-based reporting, and journalism preferred
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits.

Media consumer mindset
Working knowledge of multimedia journalism, e.g. news reporting, writing, web posting, still photography, online video, infographics, databases, and social media
Versed in the fundamentals of news reporting, including privacy, access, ethics as well as state and federal laws regarding open meetings, open records, and access to information
High standards of accuracy and fairness
Outstanding editing and writing for publication
Working knowledge of Associated Press style
Able to use digital, video, mapping, social networking, and other technology to bolster on-air news reporting
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), and web publishing tools
High adaptability
High emotional intelligence
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
