Job Summary
At Imperial Painting, we do more than paint houses. We deliver an experience built on professionalism, communication, clean job sites, quality craftsmanship, and respect for the customer’s home.
We are looking for a skilled and dependable Lead Painter to run painting projects in the field. This is a hands-on working position for someone who can take an Imperial Painting van from the shop, lead one other painter, complete projects efficiently, and uphold our brand from arrival through the final walkthrough.
The Lead Painter is expected to be one of the strongest painters on the job site. You will be spraying, brushing, rolling, prepping, solving normal job-site problems, keeping the project moving, and making sure the work meets the Imperial Painting standard.
Your Role
As a Lead Painter, you will take ownership of the daily execution of assigned projects.
You will:
- Pick up the company van from the shop each morning and ensure it is loaded, organized, clean, and ready for the day’s project.
- Lead one helper, apprentice, or additional painter on assigned jobs.
- Arrive on time, park professionally, maintain a clean appearance, and represent Imperial Painting well in every customer’s home.
- Review the job scope, colors, materials, and project expectations before beginning work.
- Complete residential and commercial painting projects on time and according to the agreed-upon scope.
- Perform hands-on painting work including spraying, brushing, rolling, cutting in, masking, caulking, sanding, patching, priming, and surface preparation.
- Operate and maintain airless sprayers, ladders, hand tools, power tools, and painting equipment safely and correctly.
- Lead exterior and interior painting work, including siding, trim, doors, walls, ceilings, cabinets, fences, decks, and other assigned surfaces.
- Set the pace for the day by keeping the project organized, productive, clean, and moving forward.
- Direct the helper or apprentice on prep, masking, cleanup, material handling, touchups, and other job-site responsibilities.
- Ensure the customer’s property is protected throughout the project, including landscaping, flooring, furniture, fixtures, and surrounding surfaces.
- Keep the job site clean every day and ensure tools, materials, ladders, sprayers, and debris are properly organized.
- Identify issues early, communicate material needs or job concerns quickly, and help prevent unnecessary delays.
- Complete touchups, cleanup, and final quality checks before the customer walkthrough.
- Return the van, equipment, and job materials to the shop in clean, organized condition.
What We Require
We are looking for a Lead Painter who can work independently, lead by example, and be trusted to carry the Imperial Painting name into every job site.
You must have:
- Proven professional residential painting experience.
- Strong experience with exterior and interior repaint projects.
- The ability to spray efficiently and produce clean, consistent finishes with an airless sprayer.
- Strong prep skills, including scraping, sanding, caulking, masking, patching, priming, and protecting customer property.
- Confidence brushing, rolling, spraying, cutting clean lines, and completing detailed touchup work.
- Experience working from scopes of work, color selections, and job instructions.
- The ability to lead other apprentice painters while remaining productive and hands-on.
- A strong sense of urgency without sacrificing craftsmanship or cleanliness.
- Reliable transportation to get to the shop each day.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to safely drive an Imperial Painting van.
- The ability to lift materials, move ladders, operate equipment, and work on ladders or elevated surfaces safely.
- A professional appearance, respectful attitude, and strong communication skills around customers.
