Position Summary
The main purpose of this role is to design associated tooling for composite stamp forming and related processes. The qualified applicant will be responsible for producing designs, models and detailed drawings for composite tooling and assemblies. Regular meetings and interactions with engineering groups and production personnel to resolve design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures and cost will be required as will some interfacing with customers.
1. Manage purchasing, design and manufacturing prototype and production tooling.
2. Regularly meet with production to create new tooling designs, review status of every tool and discuss issues.
3. Develop tooling standards utilizing “lessons learned” approach for enhancing designs and reducing scrap.
4. Utilize CAD software to prepare tooling prints and designs.
5. Draft specifications or drawings to produce tools and fixtures including appropriate tolerances.
6. Participate in quality assurance program and continuously search for process improvements.

Education/Experience:
High School diploma or GED
Postsecondary program in composite tooling design OR 4 years’ experience working with design or fabrication of tooling
2+ Years’ experience in aerospace manufacturing preferred
Certificates and Licenses:
No specialized certificates or licenses needed
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret procedure manuals, drawings, Geometric tolerances and other specifications. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other employees, managers, vendors, and customers.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to interpret graphs, shrink or growth rates.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of standard computer programs including Microsoft Office products.
Proficient with CAD such as SolidWorks. Other major CAD programs such as Pro Engineer, NX or CATIA may also be acceptable.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
