Electrical Estimator

Job SummaryWheeler Electric is seeking a motivated, full-time Electrical Estimator to join our growing estimating department in Idaho Falls, Idaho.As an Electrical Estimator, you will play a key role in preparing bids for a diverse range of electrical projects. You will collaborate with estimators, project managers, suppliers, subcontractors, and general contractors throughout the bidding process, supporting the continued success of our team.The ideal candidate has experience in the electrical industry, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn Wheeler Electric’s estimating procedures. Prior estimating experience is preferred, but not required.Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Review project drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents.
- Perform electrical takeoffs manually and/or using estimating software.
- Set up and maintain bid folders, project files, bid logs, and estimating records.
- Request and evaluate quotes from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Communicate with contractors, suppliers, and internal team members regarding project scope, bid requirements, clarifications, RFIs, and scope questions.
- Prepare proposal letters and bid documents. Track bid due dates, addendum deadlines, walkthroughs, and submission requirements to ensure bids are completed accurately and on time.
- Assist in identifying and tracking bidding opportunities, pre-bid requirements, walkthroughs, and related deadlines.
- Support project handoff procedures for awarded work.
· Review bid scope for inclusions, exclusions, alternates, allowances, and potential gaps to support complete and accurate proposals.
· Develop labor and material pricing based on project requirements, company estimating standards, supplier quotes, and installation assumptions.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Electrical field experience or strong electrical industry knowledge
- Understanding of electrical materials, labor, and installation practices
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and scope documents
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Willingness to learn estimating software and company procedures
Preferred Experience
Preferred experience includes:
- Electrical estimating experience
- Experience with electrical estimating software
- Familiarity with public and private bidding processes
- Experience preparing proposals and bid packages
Training
Wheeler Electric will provide training on company estimating procedures, estimating software, proposal standards, and department workflows.
Training may include:
- Shadowing current estimators on active bids
- Performing takeoffs on past projects for review and comparison
- Learning estimating software
- Preparing proposal letters with feedback and guidance
- Progressively managing assigned bids with increasing responsibility

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
