Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Clinical Managing Director to join a well-funded, early-stage behavioral health company as we scale our outpatient mental health and substance use disorder programs. This is a unique opportunity to join at the ground level and play a meaningful role in shaping our clinical programs, team, and culture.

The Clinical Managing Director will provide clinical leadership and oversight to therapists, psychotherapists, paraprofessional staff, peer support workers, case managers, and other behavioral health professionals. This role will also lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of outpatient mental health, substance use disorder, and community-based programs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in behavioral health leadership, clinical supervision, program development, regulatory compliance, and multidisciplinary team management. This position will help ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based services while maintaining compliance with applicable state requirements and supporting CARF and state accreditation.

Duties

Provide clinical and operational leadership for outpatient mental health and substance use disorder treatment programs.
Oversee psychotherapy and other clinical behavioral health services to ensure high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care.
Provide clinical supervision, consultation, mentoring, and support to therapists, psychotherapists, and other clinical staff.
Oversee paraprofessional and community-based behavioral health services, including Community-Based Rehabilitation Services (CBRS), case management, targeted service coordination, peer support services, and related programs.
Provide oversight and guidance to case managers, peer support workers, community-based rehabilitation staff, and other paraprofessional service providers.
Develop, implement, and expand behavioral health programs based on community needs, organizational goals, reimbursement opportunities, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Lead program development initiatives, including development of policies and procedures, clinical workflows, service models, documentation standards, staffing structures, and quality assurance processes.
Identify opportunities to develop additional mental health, substance use disorder, psychotherapy, rehabilitation, case management, peer support, and other behavioral health programs and services.
Assist with CARF accreditation and applicable state licensing, certification, and accreditation requirements, including preparation, implementation, ongoing compliance, and survey readiness.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local behavioral healthcare regulations and payer requirements.
Monitor clinical documentation, treatment planning, service delivery, utilization, and quality of care to ensure services meet professional, regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
Lead performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives by reviewing clinical and operational data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing corrective actions and best practices.
Promote effective coordination and collaboration among therapists, prescribers, case managers, peer support workers, paraprofessionals, administrative staff, and organizational leadership.
Participate in recruitment, onboarding, training, supervision, and professional development of clinical and behavioral health staff.
Assist in establishing appropriate staffing models, caseload expectations, productivity standards, and service delivery processes.
Support organizational leadership in strategic planning, development of new service lines, and expansion of existing behavioral health programs.
Help ensure clinical services are delivered efficiently while maintaining appropriate quality, compliance, documentation, and patient-care standards.
Foster a professional, collaborative, accountable, and patient-centered organizational culture.

Qualifications

Must hold a current Idaho clinical license in good standing in at least one of the following designations: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Must possess a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or another applicable behavioral health discipline.
Idaho professional licensure must be active, unrestricted, and in good standing.
Proven experience in outpatient mental health, behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, psychotherapy, or related clinical services.
Experience providing clinical supervision and leadership to therapists, clinicians, and/or other behavioral health professionals.
Knowledge of community-based and paraprofessional behavioral health services, including CBRS, case management, targeted service coordination, and peer support services.
Demonstrated experience in behavioral health program development, implementation, management, and expansion.
Knowledge of applicable federal and Idaho behavioral healthcare regulations, clinical documentation requirements, and professional standards.
Experience with CARF accreditation and/or Idaho behavioral health accreditation, certification, or licensing requirements is highly desirable.
Experience developing clinical policies, procedures, workflows, treatment programs, and quality assurance processes.
Strong understanding of performance improvement, utilization management, clinical quality, and regulatory compliance.
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to effectively supervise and collaborate with clinical, paraprofessional, administrative, and executive teams.
Ability to evaluate existing programs, identify opportunities for improvement or expansion, and lead the development of new behavioral health services.
Strong organizational and strategic management skills with an emphasis on long-term program growth, clinical quality, and operational sustainability.
