About Axxin

Axxin is an Australian Biotechnology company looking for a Field Applications Engineer based in the USA.

Axxin develop platforms and diagnostic products for biomedical applications, that bridge the gap from research to market with world leading innovation, capability, and cost effectiveness. We have established ourselves as a leader in commercialising diagnostic delivery systems in partnership with leading biomedical and pharmaceutical global companies.

About You

This is a career position for a bright and enthusiastic candidate with good technical, analytical and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels.

The successful candidate will be well organized and possess excellent problem-solving skills with a practical approach. It would be expected for the candidate to have the ability to learn new software, systems and technologies quickly to support and grow Axxin’s USA customer base.

The ideal candidate would have demonstrated a practical, astute, and resourceful approach to work, would have the ability to think on their feet and make sound decisions.

This is an entry level position that would suit a recent graduate seeking to develop a future career in the biotechnology field.

The Role

This is a USA based work from home/hybrid role but would include guidance and training from the team in Australia. It provides an excellent opportunity for a recent science graduate to gain experience within a multidisciplinary team and a fast-paced engineering environment.

It is expected to include up to 1 or 2 days travel per week to customer sites to run demonstrations and training (totaling up to 40% of time Domestically within USA, and 10% internationally such as Europe). This would include mainly USA based customers but may include occasional travel to Europe.

We are seeking a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational, time management skills and record keeping skills.

The main activities you would perform include:

On site demonstrations of Axxin products to prospective new customers (hardware and software).
Equipment installation and high-level introductory training sessions to new customers to complement existing Axxin training videos.
Assisting customers in setting up preliminary test types on instruments.
Reviewing customer collected results and advising on product configuration, test type settings and algorithm adjustments to optimise assay outcomes.
Collecting information on visited customer’s capabilities and technical requirements.
Feeding back collected information on improvements or customer requested updates to the team in Australia to assess for integration into Axxin’s product platforms.
Provide technical support during work hours for USA based customers.
Escalating any issues identified on site to the team in Australia.
Managing, shipping and delivering a local stock of demonstration/loan instruments.
Attending technical and marketing events, present and engage with customers on product capability, performance, functionality and applications.
Organising trade show equipment and manage delivery logistics. This includes preparation of instruments, laptops with application software, cartridges, example test types, algorithms and supported peripherals.
Providing technical product training to Axxin customers identified by Axxin CEO, Applications and Business Development teams.
Providing visit reports and weekly summaries on status.
Detailed training will be provided.

Professional Requirements

Bachelors or Masters degree in Biological or Physical Sciences.
Technically adept with Windows networking and PC troubleshooting.
Experience using laboratory analytical instruments favourable.
Concise communication and active listening skills.
Comfortable speaking and presenting in front of small groups in informal settings.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Experience with SharePoint, MS Teams and Office 365 is highly desirable.
Excellent spoken and written English is essential.
USA citizen status must exist at time of application.
Located near a major airport transport hub for travel within the USA.
Valid drivers license, valid US passport, no criminal record, able to pass background check.
