Full Job Description

The Office of Statewide Pretrial Services’ (OSPS or Office) is a statewide office that provides pretrial services under the Pretrial Services Act, 725 ILCS 185. The Office’s mission is to assist in the administration of justice and promote community safety by ensuring fairness and equality in the pretrial process. OSPS prepares pretrial investigation reports for the courts and supervises individuals released from custody as directed by the court.

The Diversity Equity and Inclusion Officer spearheads diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) strategies across the Office of Statewide Pretrial Operations (OSPS). This position works with considerable independence, exercising professional judgment and has great attention to detail under the general supervision of the Chief of Staff.

Current Available Shift:

Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

· Plans, develops and leads annual DEIA training and other learning opportunities.

· Advises the Director’s Office on proposed Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility issues and initiatives.

· Develops and implements long-term and short-term DEIA goals that align with OSPS mission, vision and values.

· Evaluates and tracks metrics, monitors progress, and reports outcomes on DEIA initiatives.

· Evaluates pretrial outcomes across OSPS counties and makes recommendations on areas of improvement as well as new initiatives.

· Provides support, consultations and assistance for Senior Leadership on all DEIA matters.

· Offers support and direction across OSPS divisions related to policies, practices and scenarios.

· Oversees and implements OSPS internship program, including reviewing candidates, recommending selection, connecting interns with programmatic leaders, and communicating with institutions of higher education.

· Develops and implements a mentorship program to assist emerging leaders within OSPS.

· Designs and implements evidence-based employee wellness programs that touch upon all aspects of an employee’s life, including work life balance, fitness, and mental health through targeted communication campaigns, newsletters, and internal webinars.

· Serves as the Agency Ethics Officer and Equal Opportunity Officer.

· Assist the Director’s Office in employee internal investigations, as necessary.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Sociology, Psychology, Business Administration, Organizational Development from an accredited institution, or, equivalent experience..

2. Seven or more years’ professional working experience in a public or private organization.

3. Three or more years of experience working in human resources, DEIA or related field.

4. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).

5. Must possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License and demonstrate proof of automobile insurance to operate a personal vehicle on state business, as well as maintain a safe driving record.

6. Ability to be LEADS (Law Enforcement Agencies Data Systems) certified.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. A Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Sociology, Psychology, Business Administration, Organizational Development or a related field from an accredited institution.

2. Ten or more years of professional working experience in a public or private organization.

3. Five or more years of experience working in human resources, DEIA or related field.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

· Effective oral and written communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to plan, organize, implement, and maintain a variety of functions and projects simultaneously and meet required deadlines and schedules.

· Ability to positively and professionally interact with co-workers.

· Demonstrated leadership skills including planning and priority setting, sound decision-making, problem-solving, and analytic and interpretive skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to sit for extended time periods.

2. Professional office working environment requiring telephone usage and ability to process written documents.

3. Ability to travel, including overnight stays, as required.
