Full Job Description

Overview

Join our dedicated emergency services team as a Firefighter/Paramedic, where you will be at the forefront of saving lives and protecting property in critical situations. This dynamic role combines firefighting expertise with advanced emergency medical response, ensuring swift, effective action during emergencies. You will operate under strict safety standards while providing compassionate care and vital rescue services. Duties

Respond promptly to emergency calls involving fires, medical incidents, hazardous materials, and environmental hazards.
Operate firefighting equipment including hoses, ladders, and fire suppression systems in accordance with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards.
Provide advanced emergency medical care as a certified paramedic, including assessing vital signs, administering first aid, CPR, and other life support techniques.
Utilize self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure safety during hazardous environments.
Conduct hazard assessments and implement hazardous materials incident response protocols following HAZMAT procedures for chemical spills or environmental threats.
Participate in incident command activities to coordinate rescue efforts efficiently and safely during complex emergencies.
Perform mechanical inspections of firefighting vehicles and equipment; conduct heavy lifting and physical tasks required for rescue operations.
Engage in ongoing training on NFPA standards, fire suppression techniques, environmental protection hazardous materials response, aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF), forest fire management, and other specialized protocols to maintain readiness.

Skills

Proven EMT experience with certification in basic life support (BLS), CPR, and emergency medicine procedures.
Strong knowledge of firefighting techniques combined with familiarity with HAZMAT protocols and environmental protection measures.
Ability to operate firefighting apparatus, commercial vehicles, and rescue tools safely and effectively.
Excellent physical condition with the capacity for heavy lifting, prolonged standing, climbing ladders, and performing physically demanding tasks.
Mechanical aptitude for inspecting equipment and understanding complex systems involved in fire suppression and rescue operations.
Skilled in incident command procedures to manage emergency scenes efficiently while ensuring team safety.
Effective communicator capable of providing clear instructions under stress; attentive to vital signs and patient assessment details during medical emergencies.
Knowledge of NFPA standards governing fire service operations; commitment to continuous learning through training on new technologies and protocols.
