Senior Designer – (sales role) Residential Remodeling / Kitchen & Bath Design

Locations: Glenview & Wilmette Showrooms

About the Role
DDK is seeking a Senior Designer with a passion for creating thoughtful, functional, and beautiful residential spaces. This role leads the client experience from the first consultation through final project proposal, blending creative design expertise with strong communication and sales skills.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in Kitchen and Bath Design for complete remodeling or new home construction. The desired candidate preferably holds a CKBD (Certified Kitchen Bath Designer through the NKBA. This is a client-facing position that offers a dynamic, high-energy environment within our established design-build firm.

Key Responsibilities

Lead clients through the full design process from concept to contract.
Conduct in-home consultations and showroom meetings to assess client goals, gather measurements, and develop project scopes.
Create and present detailed design concepts, layouts, and product selections.
Oversee pricing accuracy, drawings, and specifications to ensure complete design packages.
Delegate drafting, documentation, and revisions to an Associate Designer to optimize time and productivity.
Collaborate with vendors, estimators, and internal construction teams to finalize proposals.
Maintain up-to-date product knowledge of cabinetry, finishes, and materials.
Conduct site visits to confirm design intent and address field-related questions.
Ensure client satisfaction through clear communication, attention to detail, and design excellence.

Qualifications

Minimum 7 years of experience in kitchen and bath design and residential remodeling
CKD certification (preferred) or equivalent professional credentials.
Strong design presentation skills and proficiency in design software (e.g., Chief Architect, AutoCAD, or similar).
Excellent client communication, organization, and follow-through.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience working in a showroom or design-build environment is a plus.

Compensation Structure
This position is commission draw-based, rewarding both design performance and project success.

Position Goal
The Senior Designer’s primary goal is to drive project sales and client satisfaction by leveraging support from Associate Designers for drafting, documentation, and meeting preparation, allowing the Senior Designer to focus on design leadership, client relationships, and closing opportunities.
