Pay Based on Experience and Qualifications
JOB SUMMARY: The center director is responsible for the overall functions of the center, including supervising staff, overseeing curriculum, and administering programs. The director shall ensure services are provided for the children within the framework of the licensing requirements and the center’s statement of purpose and objectives. The center director shall have overall responsibility for carrying out the program and ensuring the safety and protection of the children.
With the assistance of the Assistance Director, The Director ideally fits the following criteria:
PREREQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Is at least 21 years old.
B. Has obtained a high school diploma or passed a general education development test.
C. Has completed at least one course in business administration or 12 contact hours in administrative-related training related to personnel, supervision, record keeping, or budgeting or has one year of administrative-related experience.
D. Has certification in infant, child, and adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid, and Iowa’s training for the mandatory reporting of child abuse.
E. Has achieved a total of 100 points obtained through a combination of education, experience, and child development-related training
a. In obtaining the total of 100 points, a minimum of two categories must be used, no more than 75 points may be achieved in any one category, and 20 points must come from the experience category.
b. Points obtained in the child development-related training category shall have been taken within the past 5 years.

DUTIES, TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Directs Kidsville Program.
· With Kidsville Board, establishes and maintains handbooks, policies, procedures and personnel practices.
· Establishes and maintains early learning curriculum standards and benchmarks
· Familiar with and assures Kidsville is in compliance with all regulatory bodies (HHS, CACFP, etc.).
· Acts as a resource to others in regards to children’s behavior and learning concerns.
· Maintains presence and accessibility to parents, staff and volunteers.
· Maintains Kidsville playground and assures it is safe and appealing.
· Maintains all staff and client files to ensure all requirements are being met including background checks, fingerprints, ID, physicals, trainings, etc.
B. Initiates and maintains open communication:
· Assists the teacher in reporting progress and concerns of children to parents.
· Prepares and posts advertisements for learning center and staffing needs.
· Maintains record of activities and progress and develops monthly reports for Kidsville Board.
· Development of Kidsville Board agenda with board president and gathers related materials for monthly board meetings. Prioritizes on areas that need board discussion and/or board approval.
C. Manages Kidsville finances:
· Reviews timecards and submits payroll appropriately.
· Pays bills and reconciles bank statements on a bimonthly basis.
· Maintains balanced budget and makes recommendations for tuition increases as needed.
· Investigates, selects and purchases items needed for Kidsville.
· Write proposals and follow-ups on additional funding opportunities.
· Ensure parents’ bills are up to date
· Maintains all HHS billing with the assistance of the Assistance Director
D. Adheres to all safety policies and procedures:
· Knows and can demonstrate emergency procedures for fire disaster, tornado and other emergency situations.
· Maintains a safe working environment and practices safe working habits.
· Assist in rooms when needed to maintain ratios
E. Manages in accordance with policies and procedures:
· Keeps Board informed of programs, problems and issues while taking care of day-to-day operations independently.
· Communicates to staff all relevant information; holds periodic communication meetings and ensures records are kept.
· Adheres to existing policies and procedures; develops policies and procedures that are consistent with regulating agency guidelines.
· Serves as a resource and expert to others concerning operations in areas of responsibility.
F. Manages the selection, orientation and development of personnel:
· Selects competent staff at a level consistent with need.
· Ensures new employees are oriented to department and job and that initial competency is assessed and documented.
· Provides and documents ongoing feedback.
· Completes annual performance evaluations on or before due date.
· Administers and documents progressive discipline.
· Plans and documents all staff trainings to meet DHS and other regulatory bodies.
Pay: From $45,000.00 per year
