Accountant & Office Manager

City Wide Electric – Shawnee, Kansas

Overview

City Wide Electric is a well-established, family-owned commercial electrical contractor serving the Kansas City area. We take pride in delivering quality work while fostering a supportive, team-oriented workplace where employees are valued and empowered to succeed.

We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Accountant & Office Manager who enjoys variety in their day and takes pride in keeping financial and office operations running smoothly. This role is ideal for someone with solid accounting experience who enjoys working in a collaborative construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

Process vendor invoices, ensuring proper approval and coding to jobs and cost categories
Match invoices to purchase orders and resolve discrepancies
Maintain accurate vendor records and reconcile vendor statements
Respond promptly to vendor inquiries

Credit Card Management

Reconcile monthly company credit card statements
Ensure expenses are accurately allocated to jobs and operating accounts
Follow up with cardholders regarding missing receipts or coding questions

Vendor Compliance

Request, collect, and maintain vendor lien waivers
Follow up to ensure all required documentation is received

Payroll

Process weekly in-house Union payroll
Verify employee time and ensure compliance with Union agreements
Process payroll tax payments and filings accurately and on time

Certified Payroll

Prepare and submit certified payroll reports through eComply, eBacon, and LCPtracker
Ensure compliance with prevailing wage requirements

Billing & Accounts Receivable

Assist with customer invoicing and applications for payment
Support collections and accounts receivable activities
Maintain accurate customer billing records

Office Administration

Answer incoming phone calls and greet visitors
Maintain office supplies and support day-to-day office operations
Assist ownership and project managers with administrative tasks as needed

Qualifications

Required

2–3 years of accounting experience, including:
Accounts Payable
Payroll
Accounts Receivable
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office

Preferred

Experience in construction or project-based accounting
Familiarity with job costing systems
Experience processing Union payroll
Knowledge of certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage compliance
Experience with construction accounting software (Computer Ease)
