Full Job Description

The Kitchen Manager oversees all food service operations for a small assisted living community, ensuring nutritious, appealing, and resident‑focused meals are prepared and served in compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards. This role combines hands‑on cooking with leadership, planning, and coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, cook, and plate daily meals, snacks, and special diets as ordered (low sodium, diabetic, texture‑modified, etc.)
Create rotating menus that meet nutritional guidelines and resident preferences
Perform and oversee dishwashing, sanitizing, and proper storage of dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
Ensure all cleaning and sanitizing procedures meet health department and assisted‑living regulations
Supervise kitchen staff (if applicable) including scheduling and training
Manage food ordering, inventory, and cost control within budget
Ensure compliance with local and state health department regulations
Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards throughout the kitchen and dining areas
Coordinate meal service schedules with care staff and administration
Accommodate resident allergies, cultural preferences, and special requests
Participate in inspections and audits
Maintain accurate records (temperatures, cleaning logs, sanitation schedules, dietary notes)
Cover call-ins when they occur.

Qualifications

2+ years experience in food service management, healthcare or senior living preferred
Knowledge of nutrition, food safety, and sanitation regulations
Experience with menu planning and inventory management
Ability to lead a small team in a residential care environment
ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days)
Strong organizational and communication skills

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods
Lift up to 40 lbs
Work in a commercial kitchen environment

Schedule

Full‑time
Typically daytime hours with occasional weekends or holidays
On‑call availability for kitchen‑related issues

Compensation

Salary: $50,000.00 per year
