About the Role
The HR Generalist - Field Operations provides hands-on HR support for approximately 150-175 employees across Mountain Top Healthcare LLC facilities. This role supports onboarding, employee relations, leave and workers' compensation administration, benefits, personnel records, and regulatory compliance. The position requires regular on-site presence and approximately 50% or more travel among assigned California locations.
Essential Responsibilities
Onboarding & Field Support
- Develop and deliver in-person new hire orientation, HR trainings, and other employee or manager education across assigned locations.
- Coordinate onboarding documentation, benefit enrollment, required training, and credential records.
- Provide consistent, accessible HR support to employees, Directors, Administrators, and local managers.
Employee Relations & Performance
- Guide managers through performance management, attendance, conduct, corrective action, and documentation.
- Conduct or support workplace investigations, witness interviews, employee meetings, and in-person terminations as needed.
- Escalate complex, sensitive, or high-risk employee matters to leadership and designated HR support.
Leave, Workers' Compensation & Compliance
- Track leaves of absence and coordinate required documentation, status updates, accommodations, and return-to-work processes.
- Coordinate workers' compensation matters, including incident documentation, witness statements, work-status updates, and return-to-work follow-up.
- Support compliance with California employment requirements and applicable Title 17 and Title 22 requirements; program-specific training will be provided as needed.
Records, Benefits & Employee Lifecycle
- Maintain accurate personnel files, licenses, credentials, training records, compliance trackers, and routine file audits.
- Coordinate benefit enrollments, employee communications, personnel changes, transfers, and separation documentation.
- Support recruiting and hiring activities for assigned facilities, including candidate coordination and hiring documentation.
Position Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and directly related professional experience preferred.
- 4+ years of HR generalist, employee relations, or HR management experience strongly preferred; California HR experience preferred.
- Experience in healthcare, residential care, developmental services, or social services strongly preferred.
- Previous experience with, or working knowledge of, California Title 17 and Title 22 requirements preferred; program-specific training will be provided.
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent HR certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of California employment law, including wage-and-hour, FEHA, CFRA/FMLA, leave, accommodation, and employee relations requirements.
- Strong employee relations, investigation, documentation, conflict resolution, and manager coaching skills.
- Strong public speaking, communication, and facilitation skills, including the ability to create and deliver effective trainings and orientations.
- High degree of discretion, professionalism, sound judgment, organization, and follow-through.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms and electronic employee recordkeeping; applicant tracking system experience preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- $85,000-$100,000 annual salary range, depending on experience and qualifications.
- 100% employer-paid Kaiser medical, dental, and vision coverage for the employee; dependent coverage available at the employee's cost.
- Vacation/PTO benefits available after the initial probationary period, with vacation front-loaded annually based on service: 1 week for 1-3 years, 2 weeks for 4-7 years, and 4 weeks for 8+ years. Approved business travel is reimbursed per company policy.

- Regular travel of approximately 50% or more to branches including but not limited to: Long Beach, Lomita, Burbank, and Gilroy, with occasional overnight travel.
- Ability to conduct in-person orientations, trainings, interviews, employee meetings, and facility walkthroughs.
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods and manage work across multiple locations.
- Ability to drive and hold a valid driver’s license.
Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
