Role Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Fleet, Shop & Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency of our fleet vehicles, equipment and facility. This role combines leadership, technical expertise, and strategic planning to ensure that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, and industrial maintenance run efficiently. Regularly provides guidance to field crew members and leaders in planning, organizing their equipment, fleet and materials. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate strong management skills, and possess a passion for optimizing facilities and fleet performance to support our organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet/Equipment Management
- Preventative Maintenance: Oversee scheduled servicing and repairs for all commercial trucks, trailers, heavy machinery, and two-cycle small engine equipment.
- Asset Tracking: Maintain detailed records of fleet mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance history to predict future routine maintenance needs.
- Track and organize parts, fluids, and specialized tools required for vehicle repairs.
- Perform regularly scheduled preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Repair small engine equipment, including mowers, blowers, trimmers, skid steers, etc.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations by conducting regular inspections, maintaining safety documentation, and training staff on proper maintenance repair procedures.
- Must be responsive and flexible to equipment issues or breakdowns the field crews may encounter.
Shop Operations
- Daily Operations: Manage the morning rollout, ensuring trucks are in good safe working conditions for field crews.
- Security & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, secure, and highly organized shop, warehouse, and yard to maximize space, efficiency and reduce hazards.
- Coordinate and manage deliveries of materials (mulch, stone, soil, trees, etc.) to support Managers.
- Maintain and manage inventory of materials and supplies for the shop and facilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize facilities management processes while promoting a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and maintain small engines-equipment.
- Facilitate the transition of the fleet and equipment between landscaping operations and winter snow removal.
- Assist in snowplow operations as needed.
Facility Management
- Maintenance & Repairs: Oversee the structural and operational upkeep and maintenance of the facility, buildings, and grounds.
- Safety Protocols: Implement and enforce strict safety standards across all facilities to comply with OSHA regulations.
- Vendor Management:
- Negotiate pricing with vendors to ensure OEG is getting the most competitive pricing.
- Routine maintenance and repairs around the facility.
- Develop and manage budgets for fuel, parts, vehicle acquisition, and repairs.
- Builds collaborative relationships and communications processes with internal and external partners to meet shared objectives.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance procedures for all mechanical and electrical systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Coordinate repairs involving programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electrical systems, HVAC units, plumbing, and other mechanical components using appropriate tools
- Plan and manage facilities projects including upgrades or renovations while adhering to project management best practices.
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems, electrical systems (including high voltage and low voltage), HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and industrial equipment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in HVAC system repair, plumbing system maintenance, electrical system troubleshooting (including high voltage/low voltage), and industrial maintenance procedures.
- Familiarity with schematics for electrical wiring diagrams and control systems; experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is highly desirable.
Qualifications
- Proven management experience supervising facilities maintenance teams or fleet operations within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Proficiency in using operating software for work order management and asset tracking; advanced skills in Microsoft Office highly preferred.
- OSHA Certified or knowledge of OSHA safety regulations related to facilities management and industrial maintenance practices.
- Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
- Ability to interpret technical schematics and troubleshoot engineering issues effectively using tools such as ohmmeters.
- Strong communication skills in English for clear documentation, reporting, and collaboration across departments.
Education
- BS Degree in related field or AS Degree with certifications or equivelent experience.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in fleet management, shop management and facilities maintenance, ideally within the landscaping or construction industry.
- Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, including truck, small engine and equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Licensing: Valid Driver's License and DOT medical card required; CDL Class A or B preferred.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in various weather conditions.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
