Metallurgist
What to Expect
The Metallurgist supports aluminum alloy production, quality assurance, and process improvement by analyzing metallurgical data, investigating product and process issues, coordinating testing, and ensuring compliance with customer and internal specifications. This position supervises up to two direct reports and partners closely with Production, Quality, Sales, suppliers, and customers.
What you’ll do
· Analyze alloys, raw materials, and finished products to ensure specification compliance.
· Provide metallurgical support for melting, alloying, casting, and related operations.
· Investigate quality concerns and production issues using root cause analysis.
· Coordinate and interpret laboratory and metallurgical testing.
· Support process improvements, product trials, and quality initiatives.
· Prepare technical reports and customer-facing documentation.
· Maintain testing procedures, quality records, and ISO compliance activities.
· Train and provide technical guidance to laboratory and production personnel.
What you’ll bring
· Degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience
· Experience in aluminum manufacturing, casting, metallurgy, or materials testing preferred.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality/data management systems.
Work Environment
Office, laboratory, and manufacturing settings with exposure to industrial conditions. Occasional travel and after-hours support may be required. Supervises up to two direct reports and must be able to lift up to fifty pounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
