Overview

Nearby Web Guys is looking for an SEO Specialist who combines strong writing ability with sharp data and analytical skills.

We build high-performing websites and local presences for service businesses throughout the United States, and SEO is at the core of how we help them win. Your role is to make sure our clients' websites are found, ranked, and driving traffic through smart on-page optimization, content strategy & creation, and ongoing performance analysis.

We move quickly and keep projects moving forward, so we're looking for someone who can dig into the data, spot opportunities, and execute without needing constant hand-holding.

If you enjoy writing well, working with numbers, and seeing your work directly move the needle for real businesses, you'll fit right in.

Indianapolis-based applicants only. This is a hybrid role with in-office collaboration.

What You'll Do

Conduct keyword research and identify SEO opportunities for local service business websites
Write and optimize on-page content — page copy, meta titles/descriptions, headers, and blog content
Manage and optimize PR & backlink campaigns — set up and manage citations/directories, news publications, and local sponsorship/partner initiatives
Analyze site performance and rankings using analytics and SEO tools, and translate data into clear action items
Perform technical SEO audits and recommend fixes to improve site health
Track keyword rankings, traffic, and conversions, and report on progress
Collaborate with our design and development team to make sure SEO best practices are built into every project

Most projects involve local service business websites, so you'll be working across a variety of industries and markets.

Requirements

Strong writing and communication skills
Solid understanding of SEO fundamentals (keyword research, on-page optimization, technical SEO)
Comfort working with analytics and reporting tools
Experience in SEO preferred
Ability to work efficiently and produce high-quality work

Bonus (Not Required)

Experience with tools like Google Analytics, Search Console, Ahrefs, or SEMrush
Experience with content strategy or copywriting
Experience working with agency or client projects
Relevant certifications, coursework, or degree in marketing, communications, or a related field

Pay: $25–$40/hour depending on experience, speed, and quality (contract-based work)
Consistent contract work available
Opportunity to grow into part-time or full-time as the role develops
