Full Job Description

Build and Lead Our Document Restoration Operation

Prism Specialties is seeking an experienced Document Restoration professional to build and lead our document recovery operation serving Indiana, Kentucky, and Chicagoland.

This role is specifically for someone who already has hands-on experience restoring water, fire, and smoke-damaged documents, records, books, files, or other paper materials.

We can help the right person grow as a leader and learn the Prism organization. However, we are not looking to train someone from scratch on wet-document restoration.

The ideal candidate has worked for a document recovery, specialty contents, disaster restoration, archival recovery, or similar organization and understands how to evaluate, stabilize, dry, clean, and recover wet documents following commercial and residential losses.

What You'll Do

You will help Prism build a full-service document recovery operation capable of handling documents damaged by water and flooding, fire and smoke, mold and microbial contamination, soot and particulate, and high humidity and moisture events.

· Evaluate damaged documents and determine appropriate restoration methods

· Lead emergency response and stabilization of wet documents

· Oversee document freezing, drying, cleaning, deodorization, and recovery

· Coordinate or manage vacuum freeze-drying processes

· Establish document handling and restoration procedures

· Develop secure inventory and chain-of-custody processes

· Oversee pack-outs, transportation, storage, processing, and return

· Manage sensitive medical, legal, financial, government, and commercial records

· Train and supervise document restoration technicians

· Assist with estimating, project documentation, and communication with adjusters and restoration contractors

· Help select equipment, machinery, vendors, and technology for the operation

· Develop quality-control standards and operating procedures

· Help grow the document restoration practice throughout Indiana, Kentucky, and Chicagoland

Required Experience

Candidates must have prior hands-on experience with wet-document restoration.

This should include experience with some combination of:

· Water-damaged documents and records

· Wet books and bound materials

· Document freezing and stabilization

· Vacuum freeze drying or freeze-drying coordination

· Controlled drying of paper materials

· Mold-contaminated documents

· Document cleaning and deodorization

· Fire- and smoke-damaged documents

· Large commercial or institutional document losses

· Document inventory and chain of custody

General water mitigation or contents-restoration experience without wet-document recovery experience will not be sufficient for this position.

Preferred Background

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience from:

· Document restoration companies

· Specialty contents restoration companies

· Commercial disaster-recovery companies

· Freeze-drying operations

· Records recovery companies

· Library, archival, or paper conservation environments

· Large-loss restoration organizations

Experience with hospitals, universities, government agencies, law firms, insurance companies, libraries, or other organizations with sensitive records is highly desirable.

Preferred Certifications

Relevant IICRC certifications are beneficial, including:

· Water Restoration Technician (WRT)

· Applied Structural Drying (ASD)

· Fire and Smoke Restoration Technician (FSRT)

· Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT)

· Odor Control Technician (OCT)

· Contents Processing Technician (CPT)

Master or Journeyman restoration designations are also highly valued. Certifications are helpful, but actual document restoration experience is more important.

The right person will be technically strong in document recovery and interested in taking the next step in their career. You do not need to have previously run an entire division.

This person will have the opportunity to help build the people, processes, equipment, and capabilities required to create a leading regional document restoration operation.

Location

Indianapolis is the preferred location. We will also consider highly qualified candidates based in Louisville or Chicagoland.

Travel throughout Indiana, Kentucky, and Chicagoland will be required, particularly for larger losses.
