We are seeking an experienced and motivated Pre-Litigation Case Manager to manage personal injury claims from intake through settlement while also supervising a small team of support employees.

This is not a passive administrative role. The right candidate will take ownership of a substantial caseload, maintain consistent communication with clients, coordinate medical treatment, develop claims, negotiate with insurance carriers, and help lead the day-to-day performance of the pre-litigation team.

Position Overview

The Pre-Litigation Case Manager will serve as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the pre-litigation process. You will work closely with attorneys, medical providers, insurance adjusters, support staff, lienholders, and other involved parties to ensure that each case is thoroughly developed and consistently progressing.

In addition to managing an individual caseload, this position will oversee a small team of employees who assist with case development, client communication, medical records, billing, treatment coordination, and other pre-litigation responsibilities.

The ideal candidate is organized, confident, accountable, comfortable managing others, and able to balance strong client service with effective team leadership.

Key ResponsibilitiesCase Management

Manage personal injury cases from initial intake through settlement or transfer to litigation
Maintain regular and meaningful communication with clients regarding treatment, case status, and next steps
Assist clients with coordinating medical treatment and resolving treatment-related issues
Communicate with medical providers, insurance carriers, adjusters, lienholders, and other involved parties
Investigate claims and gather supporting evidence, including crash reports, photographs, insurance information, witness information, and other documentation
Monitor clients’ medical treatment and ensure cases continue progressing
Request, organize, and review medical records, medical bills, and itemized statements
Identify treatment gaps, outstanding balances, prior injuries, coverage concerns, and other issues that may affect case value
Prepare detailed case summaries and assist with demand package preparation
Evaluate claims and participate in settlement strategy discussions with the supervising attorney
Negotiate bodily injury settlements with insurance adjusters under attorney supervision
Confirm liability decisions, insurance coverage, policy limits, and available first-party benefits
Handle UM/UIM, MedPay, commercial vehicle, and other insurance-related issues when applicable
Track deadlines, statutes of limitation, outstanding records, treatment updates, and negotiation activity
Assist with medical bill and lien reductions
Prepare settlement breakdowns and help move resolved cases efficiently through disbursement
Identify cases that may require litigation and assist with an organized transfer to the litigation team
Maintain complete, accurate, and detailed notes in the firm’s case-management system
Provide clients with a high level of service while setting clear and realistic expectations

Team Leadership

Supervise and support a small team of pre-litigation employees
Assign tasks and help prioritize the team’s daily and weekly workload
Review work for accuracy, completeness, and timely follow-through
Monitor case progress and ensure employees are completing assigned responsibilities
Train and mentor team members on firm procedures, client communication, case development, and file management
Provide clear expectations, constructive feedback, and accountability
Help identify workflow issues and recommend practical improvements
Assist with resolving escalated client, provider, or insurance-related issues
Communicate staffing concerns, performance issues, and case risks to firm leadership
Promote a collaborative, professional, and team-first work environment
Lead by example through strong organization, responsiveness, judgment, and work ethic

Qualifications

Prior experience managing personal injury claims is strongly preferred
Prior supervisory, team-lead, training, or management experience is preferred
Experience working in a personal injury law firm, insurance company, medical office, or claims-related environment is preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organization and attention to detail
Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload
Ability to supervise employees and hold team members accountable
Confidence communicating with clients, adjusters, medical providers, attorneys, and staff
Ability to prioritize urgent matters and meet deadlines
Strong judgment, leadership, and problem-solving ability
Comfortable negotiating and advocating for clients
Ability to remain patient, professional, and compassionate during difficult conversations
Willingness to accept feedback, take accountability, and contribute wherever needed
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn legal case-management software
Bilingual English and Spanish abilities are a plus but are not required

Compensation

$53,500–$58,500 per year, depending on relevant experience, leadership ability, demonstrated performance, and overall fit.
