About the Position
The Executive Director is the chief visionary and ambassador of the organization. This role exists to set direction, build belief, and expand possibility. Operating within the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), the Executive Director serves squarely in the Visionary seat, focusing on big‑picture thinking, external relationships, long‑term strategy, and mission impact, while intentionally empowering the Integrator to own execution, operations, and internal accountability.
A working understanding of the construction industry—including employer priorities, workforce needs, and career pathways—is essential to effectively represent the organization and advance its mission.
This role is for a dreamer with discipline—someone who sees what could be, communicates it with clarity and conviction, and attracts people, partners, and resources to make it real. It is not a role for someone who needs to control details, manage staff workflows, or stay close to daily operations.
The Executive Director measures success not by personal output, but by lives changed, systems influenced, and leaders empowered.
Vision, Mission & Strategic Direction
- Own and articulate the long‑term vision for the organization and the populations it serves
- Ensure clarity and alignment around the mission, core values, and purpose
- Identify future opportunities, emerging trends, and innovative approaches in workforce development

- Partner with the Integrator to translate vision into strategic priorities—without owning execution

- Serve as the primary external face of the organization
- Build and maintain high‑trust relationships with: Industry leaders and employers, Philanthropic partners and funders, Public sector leaders and policymakers, Education and training partners, Community and nonprofit collaborators
- Advocate for workforce development solutions that create real pathways out of poverty
- Position the organization as a thought leader and trusted partner in the workforce ecosystem
Resource Development & Influence
- Play a lead role in fundraising strategy, donor cultivation, and major partner relationships
- Inspire investment by clearly communicating impact, vision, and outcomes
- Open doors that expand financial sustainability and long‑term opportunity
- Leverage influence and credibility to create partnerships that the organization could not access otherwise
What This Role Is Not
- Not responsible for daily operations or program management
- Not the owner of staff performance management or internal systems
- Not the primary problem‑solver for operational issues
- Not a role for someone who needs hands‑on control to feel effective
