Job Summary
The Junior Engineer provides first-level technical support to Beam Security clients and assists with helpdesk requests, endpoint support, Microsoft 365 administration, documentation, device troubleshooting, and basic security-related tasks.
This role is client-facing and requires professionalism, clear communication, confidentiality, attention to detail, and a security-first mindset. The Junior Engineer is expected to support common technical issues, maintain accurate documentation, follow Beam Security’s procedures, and escalate more complex matters to senior technical staff when appropriate.
Duties
The Junior Engineer’s responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Providing first-level technical support for client issues submitted through approved support channels, including the helpdesk, email, phone, or other designated systems.
- Troubleshooting common user issues involving Windows, macOS, Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, printers, Wi-Fi, VPN, software access, account access, and basic network connectivity.
- Assisting with user onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, password resets, MFA enrollment, licensing changes, group membership updates, device preparation, and documentation.
- Supporting basic Microsoft 365 administration tasks, including mailbox access, shared mailboxes, distribution groups, Teams access, OneDrive and SharePoint permissions, and user account management.
- Helping maintain endpoint health by checking device status, reviewing alerts, confirming patching, verifying security tools, and performing assigned remediation tasks.
- Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting approved business applications, remote support tools, endpoint security agents, backup tools, and management software.
- Using Beam Security’s ticketing system to document all work performed, troubleshooting steps, client communication, screenshots, findings, escalation notes, and final resolution details.
- Keeping tickets clean, current, and accurate by providing timely updates, proper categorization, complete notes, and clear follow-through.
- Escalating complex, urgent, sensitive, or security-related issues to senior team members with complete context and supporting documentation.
- Assisting with client projects as assigned, including workstation deployments, Microsoft 365 changes, software rollouts, device refreshes, environment cleanup, inventory updates, and documentation improvements.
- Following Beam Security’s internal SOPs, security procedures, escalation processes, client communication standards, and documentation requirements.
- Identifying recurring issues, client risks, documentation gaps, or process improvement opportunities and communicating them to Company leadership.
Required Conduct and Expectations
The Junior Engineer must maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion when handling client systems, credentials, devices, technical information, business records, personal information, financial information, and security-related matters.
The Junior Engineer is expected to communicate clearly and respectfully with clients, vendors, internal team members, and Company leadership. The employee must protect sensitive information, follow approved procedures, use good judgment, ask for help when needed, and represent Beam Security in a professional and trustworthy manner.
The Junior Engineer must not make unauthorized changes to client systems, disclose confidential information, bypass security controls, share credentials, or perform work outside approved procedures unless specifically authorized by Beam Security.
Requirements
Preferred qualifications include familiarity with several of the following:
- Windows 10/11
- macOS
- Microsoft 365 Admin Center
- Exchange Online
- Microsoft Teams
- SharePoint and OneDrive
- Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD basics
- Google Workspace
- Basic networking concepts, including DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi-Fi, IP addressing, and firewalls
- Remote support tools
- Ticketing systems
- RMM tools
- Endpoint security tools
- Password managers
- MFA and identity security
- Printers, scanners, docking stations, and common office hardware
Prior helpdesk, MSP, IT support, desktop support, technical customer service, or systems support experience is preferred but not required. Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft Fundamentals, ITIL, or equivalent practical experience are helpful but not required.
Availability and Scheduling
The Junior Engineer is expected to maintain reliable availability for approximately 20 hours per week. Specific working hours may vary based on client needs, internal priorities, scheduled support coverage, project work, and on-site requirements.
Any changes to availability, schedule conflicts, or time-off requests should be communicated to Beam Security as early as reasonably possible.

Other Duties
This role may include additional support, technical, administrative, documentation, project, client service, or security-related duties as assigned by Beam Security based on business needs, client requirements, internal operations, or the employee’s developing skills.
At-Will Employment
Nothing in this position summary creates a contract for continued employment or guarantees any specific term of employment. Employment with Beam Security remains at-will unless otherwise stated in a separate written agreement signed by an authorized representative of the Company.
Pay: $25.00 per hour
