Customs Entry Writer Agent
Purpose
The Entry Writer will coordinate all documents required by US Customs for entry of goods into the US on behalf of importers. Will perform high volume of customs clearances processes and provide dedicated customer service.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform audit and review on all assigned brokerage files and payments to customs
- Properly classify the commercial invoices using the US Tariff Book and CROSS as a reference tool
- Data entry of import automated manifest system information (AMS) and Harmonized tariff schedule (HTF) - Including transmission to US Customs
- Preparing entry documentation including 7501 and 3461
· Assists with maintaining compliance measures for import operation – Maintain document compliance
· Ensures that proper documentation and procedures are maintained in accordance with U.S. Customs standards
· Assists and answers customer inquiries and other related customer service functions
· Arrange both delivery and the invoicing of the import account for services rendered
· Ensure timely filing of Imported Security Filing (ISF) 72 hours prior to shipment leaving last origin port.
· Ensure files are audited prior to paying statement on 9th day
· Prepare delivery orders, send to trucker, follow up with Proof of Delivery (POD)
· Process documents through the Company's automated broker interface (ABI) system, obtaining Customs release and other government agency releases as appropriate
· Review and monitor all Customs rejections and requests for information for clients
· Collaborate with other departments, such as logistics and finance, to ensure smooth clearance of goods.
· Other duties may be assigned by management due to business change or business need.
SKILLS ESSENTIAL TO THE JOB
Technical
· Windows Operating System
· MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
· Strong Communication Skills
Business
· High School Diploma or GED required.
· Minimum two (2) years of logistics, freight forwarding, customs clearance, or trade compliance experience preferred.
· Working knowledge of customs regulations, import/export requirements, and related compliance standards.
· Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills.
· Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
· Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
· Proficiency with customs software, electronic filing systems, TMS/freight management systems, and Excel preferred.
· Knowledge of supply chain processes, freight forwarding procedures, and basic logistics operations.

· Self-motivated, with an ability to self-manage
· Strong interpersonal/communication skills

Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour
