Full Job Description

Advanced BookkeeperWaterford Business Solutions is seeking an experienced Advanced Bookkeeper to join our growing team. We are looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who thrives on solving bookkeeping challenges, cleaning up complex financial records, and ensuring clients receive accurate, timely financial information.

This position is ideal for someone with strong QuickBooks Online experience, extensive payroll knowledge, and the ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies independently. Experience working with contractors or home service businesses is a plus.CompensationTraining pay will be based on experience and paid at $18-$22 per hour during the training and probationary periods.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients while maintaining accuracy and efficiency
Analyze and resolve bookkeeping discrepancies, reconciliation issues, and historical accounting problems
Perform cleanup projects for clients with inaccurate or incomplete financial records
Process and review payroll for multiple clients, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Prepare payroll tax filings and assist with payroll-related reporting
Record, review, and categorize financial transactions in QuickBooks Online
Perform complex bank, credit card, loan, and balance sheet reconciliations
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Review financial statements for accuracy and identify unusual transactions or trends
Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving third-party software integrations, including ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, HubDoc, and other cloud-based applications
Communicate professionally with clients to resolve accounting questions and gather necessary documentation
Assist with developing and improving bookkeeping workflows and internal procedures
Provide support and guidance to junior bookkeeping staff as needed
Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum of 3-5 years of full-charge bookkeeping experience with strong references and stable work history
Extensive experience with QuickBooks Online is required
Strong knowledge of payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, and payroll reporting
Proven experience identifying, troubleshooting, and correcting bookkeeping errors
Advanced reconciliation skills, including bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and balance sheet accounts
Strong understanding of accrual and cash basis accounting
Ability to interpret financial statements and identify accounting inconsistencies
Experience with third-party software integrations preferred
Construction or contractor accounting experience is highly preferred
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational abilities
Ability to manage multiple client deadlines while maintaining high accuracy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating with the team

Preferred Experience

Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor (preferred but not required)
Experience with ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, HubDoc, Gusto, or similar cloud accounting integrations
Experience with cleanup bookkeeping projects
Knowledge of sales tax and payroll tax compliance
Job costing and contractor accounting experience

Must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information
Strong commitment to accuracy, client service, and continuous improvement
