SUMMARY Lays building materials, including concrete and brick, and constructs or repairs surfaces or structures. Minimum 3-5 years experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Build, repair, and maintain structures using stone, brick, concrete, and other materials
- Grinding and re-tuckpointing historical masonry walls
- Cut and shape materials
- Builds scaffolds
- Makes mortar
- Cleans masonry units
- Works safely and is familiar with OSHA requirements
- Other mason tending duties required for masonry projects
- Must have driver’s licenses
- Must be self-motivated and willing to work under various weather conditions.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and have knowledge of related tools, masonry techniques, equipment, and materials. Skill in the construction, alteration, repair, and maintenance of masonry structures and surfaces.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 3-5 years masonry or bricklaying experience; OR, completion of a technical training program in masonry or bricklaying. Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees, tenants and residents of the organization.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Driver's License, ability to pass a background check, and drug test.
