The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Community Access, Bureau of Child Support Services is seeking a Case Manager (Job Classification: Child Support Recovery Officer) to join our team!

Overview:

At CSS, we help the families of Iowa successfully navigate and understand the importance of providing both financial and emotion support for their children and build relationships with the parents to ensure they are successful. If you are a highly motivated and organized individual with a passion for helping others, this job is for you!

Hours, Work Location and Requirements:

This is a full-time opportunity, Monday – Friday with typical hours being from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Upon successful completion of the training period and with management approval, this position offers a hybrid work opportunity, working from the office as scheduled, and from home. This position is located at the Fort Dodge CSS office located at 800 1st Ave S, Fort Dodge, IA.

Job Duties:

Performs complex case management for parents in need of paternity, medical and support establishment, modification of an existing order and maintenance of support orders.
Manage an assigned caseload. Prioritize tasks and time to meet established performance goals and critical deadlines.
Communicates with a variety of community partners including human service agencies, employers, clerks of court, county sheriff, attorneys, and other entities to achieve the goals of the Child Support Program through phone calls, emails, and other written correspondence.
Build strong working relationships with parents and help them overcome any reluctance to cooperate with Child Support services and programs in order to ensure their success.
Independently analyzes a variety of complex case situations and legal scenarios to determine the appropriate action to establish, maintain or modify support for families in and out of the state of Iowa.
Uses Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook) proficiently and has the aptitude to learn other computerized systems, including ICAR, is critically important for success in this position.
Comprehend and adhere to confidentiality provisions in the Code of Iowa.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with:

Critical thinking skills and executing complex tasks independently.
Customer service, including de-escalation of conflictual or adversarial situations.
Adjust and adapt to work pressures, changing situations with ease.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent oral and written communication and report composition.
Teamwork, collaboration, and consultation.
Managing multiple deadlines.
Extreme accuracy in mathematical calculations and timelines.

Additional Requirements

This position requires occasional travel. A valid driver's license is required to utilize our state vehicles that may be used for travel outside of the office as needed.
Successfully complete and pass a comprehensive criminal and IRS background check, including fingerprinting.

This position is located at the Fort Dodge Child Support office which is located in downtown Fort Dodge. With convenient access to the hospital, medical providers, banks, library, and other services, Fort Dodge offers big city amenities in an intimate small-town atmosphere. Fort Dodge has great public and private schools, as well as two colleges. Fort Dodge offers many family-friendly attractions and outdoor adventures. It is also rich in fine arts, offering live entertainment such as live music on small and large scale as well as live theater regularly throughout the year. Some of the local attractions include:

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate’s degree in any field, and experience equal to one year of full-time public contact work.

A total of three years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.

Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes eighteen months of full-time public contact work.

Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes one year of full-time work with Child Support Services.
