Full Job Description

We are seeking a PRN Medical Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist with the potential to transition into a full-time position. The ideal candidate will have morning availability and be responsible for patient registration, order entry, specimen collection, and DOT/non-DOT drug screen collections.

This position will primarily be based at our Main Laboratory but will also provide coverage at our other laboratory locations throughout the Cedar Rapids and Marion area, as well as support our mobile phlebotomy routes as needed.

Our business operates during the following hours:

Monday through Friday: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Saturday: 8 AM – 12:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

Perform patient registration and order entry accurately and efficiently.
Collect blood specimens using proper phlebotomy techniques.
Perform DOT and non-DOT drug screen collections in accordance with established guidelines.
Ensure accurate specimen labeling, handling, and transport.
Provide excellent customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Travel between multiple laboratory locations and mobile collection sites as needed.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience in a hospital or high-volume lab
Valid driver's license with a good driving record
EMR/LIS, diagnosis coding, and insurance knowledge preferred
Strong communication, attention to detail, reliability, accountability, and ability to work independently

Work Location: In person
