Front Office Receptionist/Athletic Secretary

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

General knowledge of and experience using computers, including word processing ability
Previous secretarial/receptionist experience preferred
Possess a strong knowledge of English, grammar, math and spelling
Ability to relate to and work with diverse population of students and adults
Ability to prioritize tasks and complete them expeditiously and accurately
Evidence of good organizational skills
Excellent customer service

REPORTS TO : Principal, Assstant Principals

SUPERVISES : N/A

JOB GOALS : Under the supervision of the building principal, perform secretarial and general office work required on a daily basis in order to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system, and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child. Provide administrative and creative support to the athletic department, assisting with day-to-day operations while helping promote athletic events, student-athlete achievements, and community engagement.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :

Answer office phones, greet and assist all stakeholders entering the office.
Respond to student, staff, and parent needs.
Carry out office procedures according to district guidelines and/or building policies.

Assist with scheduling appointments, directing inquiries, and organizing incoming correspondence.
Support the preparation and distribution of athletic-related materials, including schedules, forms (e.g., participation, physicals), and data entry.
Help maintain consistent communication with parents, athletes, coaches, and staff regarding athletic schedules, events, and required documentation.
Provide support for weather-related updates and the logistics of postponed or canceled events.
Assist with preparing event-day reminders and communications for officials, event staff, and visiting teams.
Support transportation coordination by tracking schedules and assisting with communication between the athletic office and the transportation department.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :

200 contract days

Salary and calendar year to be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy of the Iowa City Community School District.

EVALUATION : Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District’s policy on Evaluation, State Statute, and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
