Full Job Description

Accounting Clerk

Stuart, Carmen & Associates is searching for self-motivated individuals with a strong attention to detail for this Fall and onwards. The part-time position will assist the partners of the office with bookkeeping, payroll, tax preparation and other administrative work as requested. Work hours per week would be a minimum of twenty (20). Hours are flexible on weekdays between 9:00AM and 5:00PM. Similar weekly schedules are preferred. We are hoping to find a dog friendly person who is searching for a more easygoing accounting office experience.

Position responsibilities include:

- Reconcile bank statements
- Posting financial transactions
- Record payroll date in our software system and verify all amounts prior to submitting for payment
- Payroll onboarding for new hires
- Processing terminations in payroll system
- Alter employee tax status when needed
- Initiate direct deposits
- Change employee banking records
- Management and submit garnishments
- Prepare daily/weekly/quarterly reports as requested
- Ensure benefit deductions are entered in a timely and accurate manner
- Handle employee management in our software (department coding, manager updates, hours reconciliation for billing)
- Assist in preparing monthly invoices
- Other duties as assigned.

Our ideal candidate:

- AA or BS/BA in accounting or related field preferred.
- Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills.
- Understands the basics of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
- Experience with Quickbooks is preferred, but not required.
- Capable of handling sensitive and confidential information and conducting himself/herself with a professional attitude
- Possess a strong work ethic, be considered dependable/reliable and have a sharp eye for detail.
- Other necessary qualities include strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage time well, a problem-solving attitude, and the willingness to take initiative and exhibit resourcefulness.

- Sorts their socks and separates their colored and white laundry.

Stuart, Carmen & Associates is a small accounting office that provides payroll, bookkeeping, financial reporting, tax planning, and tax preparation services to local small businesses and individuals. We are a dog friendly office. There is a possibility of full-time employment.
