We’re Hiring! Grant Writer – Hybrid Schedule

Job Summary:

The Grant Writer is responsible for the research, writing and preparation of grant proposals to private and community funding sources in both foundation and corporate entities. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer. The Grant Writer creates a pipeline of grants to private funders primarily and submits grants and follow up reports in a timely manner as well as, ensures compliance of existing programs. The Grant Writer will participate in proposal and preparation, and act as a lead in the review and terms and conditions of acceptance over the life of agreements. The Grant Writer will support and advise the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Development Officer in solving challenges such as assessment of risk, special contractual provisions and performance expectations.

The Grant Writer will work closely with Executive Leadership to guide the execution of grant awards to the follow up report processes.

Goals:

Research and identify new grant opportunities
Create grant proposal templates for grant submission for general operations, specific program needs, and innovative program development. Proposals need to be reviewed by direct supervisor, CDO prior to review by CEO for final review and signature.
Ensure quality applications are prepared, presented, and submitted by the appointed deadline date
Manage the grant calendar and prepare monthly reports for Development Leadership
Ensure data and relationship files are current within one week
Communicate grant status and program progress to grantors
Manage the grant calendar, monthly reports, contract research, writing support, and editing
Prepare all grant follow up reports
Prepare personalized thank you notes to private foundations and corporations from CDO/CEO
Mail out each year annual reports to all foundations.
Prepare Grant Foundation and Corporate Foundation Reports for the Board Meetings
Secure $400,000 in grant awards each fiscal year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Adhere to contract submission guidelines
Report key milestones and progress to funders in a timely manner
In collaboration with the Chief Development Officer to maintain consistent communications with funders and send monthly touch point information
Coordinate pre- and post-contract award administration efforts
Manage private contract reports (weekly, monthly, annual)
Draft and continuously develop case statements and program descriptions
Develop budget reports, budget summaries, and budget narratives in conjunction with the Controller
Save all grants and reports on the shared drive.
Work on County Contracts as needed
Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required
Superior writing, editing, and verbal communications skills; ability to turn data into narrative form
Strong project management, administrative and organizational skills, including documentation, record-keeping, and reporting
Ability to read and understand financial statements
Knowledge of budgeting process and outcomes measurement
Familiarity with Lexus Nexus, Foundation Directory, Grant Station, Guidestar
Ability to work with Acrobat, fundraising software & MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Ability to manage multiple priorities, adhere to deadlines and be attentive to details
Ability to conduct research via the internet, library and other sources
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with funders, departmental peers, volunteers, and other professionals involved in fundraising
Access to reliable transportation and current auto insurance
Valid California Driver’s License

Working Conditions:

Working environment is indoor, reasonably clean, well-lit and ventilated
Hybrid work environment
Ability to sit for great lengths of time
Generally little or no probability of injury or health impairments
Requires little or no physical effort involving intermittent standing, sitting or walking while performing duties, occasional lifting up to 10 lbs.
Schedule is a 9/80 schedule. 9 hour shifts 4 days a week and the 5th day is 8 hours and the second week is 9 hours each day for four days and the 5th day off. Providing every other Friday is off.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year
