Job Overview: Reporting to the VP of Data Analytics, the BI (Business Intelligence) Architect serves as both the architectural lead and a hands-on technical leader for Advantage’s business intelligence and data warehouse environment. This role is responsible for designing and evolving scalable data architecture, integrations, semantic models, and reporting solutions that support clinical, financial, and operational decision-making across the organization. The BI Architect partners with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into reliable data solutions, while also remaining directly involved in data modeling, ETL development, reporting, performance optimization, and platform administration. This role places strong emphasis on data quality, governance, and the accurate integration of regulated healthcare data across AIMS and other clinical and financial systems.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and ongoing evolution of the enterprise BI and data warehouse architecture, including logical and physical data models, data marts, staging environments, and semantic models.
- Remain hands-on in the development, maintenance, and optimization of scalable data integrations, ETL pipelines, stored procedures, and API-based data flows across AIMS and other clinical, financial, and operational systems.
- Design, build, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models that deliver actionable insights for operational, financial, and executive stakeholders.
- Establish and apply best practices for data visualization, report design, data modeling, naming standards, and solution architecture to improve usability, scalability, and consistency.
- Perform database administration and platform optimization activities, including workload management, performance tuning, table and query optimization, data loading and unloading, monitoring, and disaster recovery support.
- Monitor and report on platform and workload performance KPIs, proactively identifying opportunities to improve reliability, throughput, and resource utilization across BI and ETL workloads.
- Partner with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize work, validate outputs, and deliver scalable analytics solutions that support cross-functional business needs.
- Strengthen data quality and governance by implementing controls, validation practices, and documentation that improve trust, consistency, and accuracy of reporting across regulated healthcare data sources.
- Provide technical leadership and hands-on guidance on BI platform capabilities, architecture decisions, and emerging tools and technologies across the Azure and Microsoft data ecosystem.
- Travel periodically to support company locations and business initiatives as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Strong expertise in business intelligence architecture, dimensional and relational data modeling, and scalable data warehouse design.
- Hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting ETL pipelines, integrations, stored procedures, and data movement patterns across enterprise systems.
- Strong proficiency in Power BI, including dashboard development, semantic modeling, report optimization, and data visualization best practices.
- Deep knowledge of SQL performance tuning, query optimization, database administration concepts, and workload management within cloud data platforms.
- Ability to establish and promote data governance, data quality, validation, and documentation practices that improve reporting reliability and trust.
- Experience translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions and communicating complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective collaboration and leadership skills, with the ability to influence standards, partner across departments, and guide technical direction while remaining hands-on.
- Experience working with sensitive or regulated healthcare data, with an understanding of the importance of accuracy, consistency, and governance in analytics solutions.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, work effectively under deadlines, and maintain a high standard of quality in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics engineering, data engineering, or data warehouse development.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and implementing BI solutions using SQL, ETL, stored procedures, and enterprise reporting tools.
- 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure data platform technologies such as Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Storage, and Key Vault.
- Experience designing and supporting Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models in a production environment.
- Experience building and supporting data integrations, including API-based integrations, across enterprise applications.
- Healthcare analytics experience strongly preferred, including work with clinical, financial, or operational healthcare data.
