Full Job Description

Prep Cook – Scratch Kitchen, Mornings + Tips

Mor Mor’s Table is hiring a part-time Prep Cook for our independent restaurant in downtown Laguna Beach.

We are a small, scratch-focused restaurant working with fresh, high-quality ingredients and carefully developed recipes. Our prep kitchen is the foundation of what we serve, and we are looking for someone dependable, organized, and detail-oriented who takes pride in doing things consistently and correctly.

This is primarily a part-time morning position, with the opportunity for a strong team member to grow into additional hours, a full-time position, or other roles within our kitchen as the restaurant and team continue to grow.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys focused production work, following clear systems, learning new skills, and being part of a small kitchen team where there is room to take on more responsibility over time.

What You’ll Do

Follow the production schedule established by our Lead Prep and work from a daily prep sheet
Prepare ingredients and components according to established recipes and specifications
Weigh and measure ingredients precisely, often to the gram
Assemble recipe kits to help organize and streamline production
Follow FIFO and proper food-safety procedures, including date labeling, cooling logs, waste logs, and proper food storage
Assist with pizza dough production as needed, including making poolish, folding dough, and weighing and portioning dough
Maintain a clean, organized workstation throughout your shift
Wash dishes and equipment used during prep as needed
Participate in scheduled daily and weekly deep-cleaning tasks
Support other prep and kitchen team members as production needs change
Learn additional kitchen stations and responsibilities as opportunities arise

What We’re Looking For

Previous restaurant prep, baking, pizza, or food-production experience is preferred
Comfortable following detailed recipes and production specifications
Comfortable using a scale and working with measurements in grams
Strong attention to detail and consistency
Reliable and able to work independently once trained
Organized, clean, and able to manage multiple prep tasks
Able to work efficiently without sacrificing quality
Interested in learning and potentially taking on additional kitchen responsibilities over time
Ability to understand and communicate work instructions in English is required for recipe execution, food safety, and communication with our current prep team
Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of restaurant prep work, including standing for extended periods and lifting common kitchen ingredients and equipment

Compensation

$17-20/hour + tips

This position participates in our restaurant tip pool, providing additional compensation on top of the hourly wage.
