Join the Long Beach Community College District as an Admissions and Records Technician, where you’ll perform a variety of specialized and technical admissions and records functions in support of student success. In this role, you will process admissions applications, register students, maintain student records, process transcript requests, prepare enrollment and degree verifications, and provide information regarding District admissions, registration, and records policies and procedures to students, staff, and the public. This position requires strong organizational and customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret and apply admissions, registration, and records policies while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Additionally, candidates must possess an Associate’s degree in business or public administration or a closely related field and two (2) years of progressively responsible clerical and administrative office support experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. - Eligibility list: Will be valid for 12 months once approved or ratified by the Personnel Commission. We reserve the right to use the established eligibility list for vacancies (permanent and temporary) in this classification as well as related classifications

Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis; however, please note that requests are typically capped at Step 3.

GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision, performs a variety of specialized and technical admissions and records duties; assists students, staff and the public and provides information regarding District admissions, records maintenance and registration; and performs related duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Incumbents perform a variety of specialized technical and administrative admissions and records functions, including processing admissions applications, registering students, maintaining student records, processing transcript requests and preparing written confirmations of student enrollment, GPA or degrees earned. Incumbents are also responsible for providing technical assistance and information to students, staff and the public regarding District admissions, registration and records maintenance policies and procedures.
Admission & Records Technician is distinguished from Graduation Evaluation Specialist in that incumbents in the latter class perform specialized and complex duties in the evaluation and certification of student transcripts and records, whereas incumbents in the former class perform records duties focused on student academic history with the District.
Education, Training and Experience:
Associate’s degree in business or public administration or a closely related field and two (2) years of progressively responsible clerical and administrative office support experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience is evaluated on the basis of a verifiable 35 hour week, unless specified otherwise. Prorated part-time experience may be acceptable.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
May require a valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District’s vehicle insurance policy.
Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.
