Overview

Join our compassionate team as a Hospice Chaplain and Bereavement Coordinator, where you will play a vital role in providing spiritual support, guidance, and comfort to patients facing terminal illness and their families. This position offers an opportunity to lead meaningful bereavement programs, facilitate spiritual care sessions, and serve as a pillar of strength during life's most challenging moments. We are seeking a dedicated religious leader with a passion for pastoral care, cultural sensitivity, and community engagement to help us deliver holistic hospice services rooted in compassion and respect. This paid position is ideal for someone committed to making a positive difference through faith-based support and crisis intervention. Servicing areas in: Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside Counties.

Duties

Provide spiritual guidance, pastoral counseling, and religious support tailored to patients’ faith traditions and individual needs.
Lead and coordinate bereavement programs, including grief support groups, memorial services, and one-on-one counseling sessions for families coping with loss.
Deliver engaging public speaking presentations on topics related to spiritual health, grief management, and end-of-life care at community events or educational forums.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary hospice teams to integrate spiritual care into overall patient treatment plans.
Offer crisis intervention and terminal illness counseling to patients and families experiencing emotional distress or spiritual crises.
Develop educational materials on religious teachings, biblical theology, and grief processes to assist families and staff in understanding the spiritual aspects of hospice care.
Plan and facilitate community outreach events that promote awareness of hospice services and foster relationships with culturally diverse communities.

Qualifications

Proven experience working as a clergyperson or religious leader within a nonprofit faith-based organization or healthcare setting.
Strong background in pastoral theology, religious studies, biblical theology, and Christian counseling.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver compelling presentations and facilitate sensitive conversations about death, grief, and spirituality.
Demonstrated expertise in working with culturally diverse communities and providing inclusive spiritual care.
Skilled in crisis management, conflict resolution, mentoring, and crisis intervention techniques.
Experience with hospice care practices, terminal illness counseling, bereavement support programs, and event planning is highly desirable.
Ability to write clearly and compassionately for various audiences including families, staff members, and community partners.
