Job Overview

ZBK Books, a growing book distribution and e-commerce company, is seeking an organized and people-focused Human Resources Manager to lead our HR functions. This role covers recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance across our warehouse and office teams. The ideal candidate is approachable, detail-oriented, and able to support a diverse, multilingual workforce. Spanish-speaking ability is required to effectively communicate with our team.

Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle recruiting: job postings, screening, interviews, and onboarding
Maintain employee records and ensure HR files are accurate and up to date
Administer employee benefits, time-off, and leave programs
Support payroll processing in coordination with accounting/bookkeeping
Handle employee relations, address concerns, and help resolve workplace issues
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws (including Texas employment regulations)
Develop and enforce company policies, handbooks, and safety procedures
Support performance reviews and employee development initiatives
Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture

Qualifications

Bilingual: Spanish-speaking required
Previous HR experience required (HR Generalist, HR Manager, or similar)
Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Proficiency with HR/payroll software and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field a plus
HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) a plus
