Full Job Description

Position Overview

Our client, a growing Texas law firm, is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney with 4–6 years of experience to join its Dallas office. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated litigation attorney with significant case-handling experience who is ready to take on meaningful responsibility in a sophisticated civil litigation practice.

The ideal candidate will have strong litigation skills, first-chair deposition experience, excellent judgment, and the ability to manage matters proactively while working closely with partners and clients. This is an in-person role based at the firm’s Dallas office in Uptown.

Key Responsibilities

Handle a broad range of civil litigation matters from inception through resolution.
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs, correspondence, and other legal documents.
Conduct legal research and provide clear, practical analysis.
Manage discovery, including drafting and responding to written discovery requests.
Take and defend depositions, including first-chair deposition responsibilities.
Prepare for and attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and witnesses.
Develop litigation strategy in coordination with partners and senior attorneys.
Manage deadlines, case calendars, and competing priorities across multiple matters.
Contribute to the firm’s professional, collaborative, and client-focused culture.
Support business development and client relationship efforts as appropriate.

Billable Hour Requirement

The position carries a 1,900-hour annual billable requirement, of which up to 50 hours may be pre-approved pro bono hours.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law in Texas and in good standing.
4–6 years of civil litigation experience.
Significant case-handling experience required.
First-chair deposition experience required.
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
Excellent oral advocacy and communication skills.
Ability to manage litigation deadlines and multiple active matters.
Strong professional judgment, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Commitment to high-quality client service and professional integrity.

Compensation

The anticipated compensation range for this position is $175,000–$195,000, depending on experience.

The firm also offers performance bonus opportunities, a business development and CLE budget, and origination credit for eligible attorney-generated work.

Health Insurance: The firm pays 100% of the employee premium for employees who opt into the firm’s current health insurance policy. Spouses and dependents may be added at the employee’s cost.
Short-Term Disability, Life, and AD&D Insurance: Full-time employees receive short-term disability income benefits, life insurance, and AD&D coverage at no cost to the employee.
Dental and Vision Insurance: Available at the employee’s cost.
401(k) Plan with Match: Eligible employees may participate after six months of employment. The firm matches 100% of the first 3% of deferred compensation, plus 50% of the next 2%, for a maximum employer match of 4%.
Origination Credit: Attorneys may earn 5% of collected fees on work they originate for the firm, subject to firm requirements and partner oversight.
Business Development and CLE Budget: The firm supports attorney professional development and business generation efforts.
Pro Bono Opportunities: Up to 50 pre-approved pro bono hours may count toward the annual billable requirement.
Bar Dues: The firm pays annual dues for either the Dallas Bar Association or the Collin County Bar Association.
Texas State Bar Dues and Attorney Occupation Tax: Paid by the firm.
Paid Parking: Monthly parking fees at the employee’s primary office location are covered by the firm.
Gym Access: Access to an onsite health and wellness center with fitness equipment.

Work Environment and Schedule

This is an in-person position based in the Dallas office. The firm values attorney presence in the office during business hours, while also recognizing the professional discretion required of attorneys to manage their schedules, meet client needs, satisfy billable requirements, and periodically work from home when appropriate.

Time Off and Leave

The firm does not maintain a fixed vacation-day policy for attorneys. Attorneys are expected to communicate effectively, remain available for assignments, and meet their annual hourly requirements.

Eligible employees may use up to twelve weeks of paid parental leave after completing one year of employment with the firm.
