Full Job Description

Hospice DPCS Designee – Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Hospice DPCS Designee (Director of Patient Care Services Designee) to assist with oversight of clinical operations and provide coverage for the Director of Patient Care Services (DPCS) when needed.

The ideal candidate will have strong hospice clinical experience, leadership skills, and knowledge of California hospice regulations, Medicare requirements, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

Serve as the designated backup to the Director of Patient Care Services (DPCS).
Assume DPCS responsibilities during the DPCS's absence, as authorized and required.
Assist with oversight and coordination of hospice clinical services.
Ensure patient care is provided in accordance with the Plan of Care and hospice policies and procedures.
Assist with supervision of RNs, LVNs, CHHAs and other clinical personnel.
Review clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
Monitor admissions, recertifications, discharges, changes in condition, and continuity of patient care.
Assist with interdisciplinary group (IDG/IDT) coordination and clinical case review.
Ensure physician orders and required clinical documentation are completed timely.
Assist with staff education, orientation, competency evaluations, and performance monitoring.
Participate in QAPI and quality improvement activities.
Assist with preparation for CDPH, CMS, and accreditation surveys and audits.
Ensure compliance with Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation, CDPH requirements, HIPAA, and agency policies.
Address clinical concerns and escalate significant patient-care or compliance issues appropriately.
Provide clinical leadership and support to field staff.
Participate in on-call or administrative coverage as required by the agency.

Qualifications

Current and unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Hospice experience strongly preferred.
Previous supervisory, clinical management, DPCS, or DPCS Designee experience preferred.
Knowledge of Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation and California hospice regulations.
Strong clinical assessment, documentation, leadership, and communication skills.
Experience with CDPH and/or accreditation surveys preferred.
Ability to supervise clinical staff and ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
