Junior Buyer

Summary of Position
The Junior Buyer supports the Purchasing Manager in managing the flow of materials into Minor Rubber Company to meet inventory needs and customer demand. This role is focused on purchasing execution, vendor coordination, and material availability as a primary responsibility. This position will work closely with Customer Service and customers in coordinating expediting activities for well vetted expediting opportunities that fall in line with company procedures approved or directed by the Purchasing Manager.
The Junior Buyer will be responsible for placing purchase orders for routine and standard demand, coordinating inbound transportation, monitoring vendor performance, and supporting pricing analysis and negotiations. While customer-facing expediting is handled primarily by Customer Service, this role works closely with vendors to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective material delivery. There will be direct customer contact where appropriate.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Purchasing & Material Flow:
- Issue purchase orders to vendors based on demand, forecasts, and direction from the Purchasing Manager.
- Manage the flow of incoming materials to ensure continuity of operations and production schedules.
- Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with vendors to confirm quantities, pricing, and delivery commitments.
- Coordinate inbound transportation and delivery logistics with vendors and carriers.
Vendor Coordination & Performance Support:
- Serve as a primary day-to-day point of contact for vendors once customer-related activities are complete.
- Support negotiations on standard items, pricing adjustments, and lead times.
- Assist in maintaining strong, professional vendor relationships.
Analysis & Reporting:
- Monitor vendor pricing and trends.
- Track and report on vendor metrics including quantity variance and on-time delivery.
- Identify improvement opportunities and recurring issues.
Background Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working with ERP systems, spreadsheets, and office software.
- NetSuite experience is a plus.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Purchasing or supply chain experience preferred.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
Reports directly to the Purchasing Manager.

Schedule: Monday to Friday
Pay: Hourly position from $48,000 to $52,000 yearly (based on 2080 hours annually)
