Full Job Description

Job Title: Accounting Manager

Department: Business Department

Qualifications: Must be legally eligible to work in the United States

Education-Minimum: Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Experience-Minimum: 3+ years of related experience, 1+ years of supervisory experience

Credentials/ Licensing- None specified

Skills- Computer proficiency

Knowledge of governing rules

Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

Physical Demands- Primarily sedentary with extended periods of computer use.

Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds

Brief walking or standing as needed

General Duties:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, completing and reviewing assigned components of the month-end close in accordance with GAAP, ensuring compliance with all HUD reporting, funder requirements and audit requirements, and furthering the vision of department and organizational leadership. This position owns HUD reporting, client banking procedures, and supports the organization’s financial statement audit. The Accounting Manager provides technical supervision of accounting staff and ensures tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner as determined by the CFO and Controller.

Essential Functions:

1. Own the ICF client banking process, completing and disseminating monthly reconciliations and transfers timely.

2. Complete all HUD billing by the external deadline.

3. Ensure all move-ins, move-outs, rent rolls, and required policies/change forms are properly maintained in tenant files.

4. Complete all required EIV reports, respond to and complete MOR requirements within designated deadlines.

5. Lead the HUD audit process and ensure timely submission of all requested items.

Maintain and reconcile the AR clearing accounts and AR aging to ledger, ensuring accurate posting, tracking, and reconciliation of AR-related activity.

6. According to the deadlines outlined in the close schedule:

a. Reconcile all non-operating cash accounts, Prepaid Software and Other accounts, all investment accounts, fundraising accounts, and other GL accounts as assigned.

b. Maintain schedules.

c. Review staff accounting entries and provide feedback and support, implementing process updates as assigned or identified.

7. Create monthly bank transfers and other financial transactions as needed.

8. Provide timely responses and documentation in support of the annual financial statement audit, ensuring no missed deadlines for assigned audit items.

9. Utilize Financial Edge NXT and related softwares for all accounting and reconciliation activities in accordance with internal procedures.

10. Utilize and maintain supplemental softwares and accounts for external reporting as required.

11. Oversee the timely and accurate completion of billing activities, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, including Medicaid/Medicare billing rules.

12. Support the implementation or optimization of accounting systems, billing systems, and reporting tools.

13. Provide timely technical feedback and support to ensure strong team performance.

14. Oversee team workload, training, accountability, and cross training to ensure coverage.

15. Foster a collaborative, cross-functional, and client-oriented business team culture.
